    The one risk of open bidding is that if someone goes away, we'll only notice if they're up to start the bidding. That said... people should really let us know if they're going away. >.<

    That and availability to get the key low spice bids. For example, I could get the forums to email my BB on all updates and get a 2-3 min response time while I'm awake and paying attention
    Or spend 20 min to write an app that will bid with a reaction time < 1 minute

    That is certainly something I like about the eBay style. It's still done in turn and you won't miss out if for some reason you can't monitor the bidding process.

    OK, let's stick with eBay style just to make sure those without time are not left out in the cold.

    I have already sent the third card ID to Atreides, so send in what you are willing to give the Emperor and it starts at Atreides.

    Note: the first bidder can always say, like, max 3, but make my opening bid 2. Any algorithm you think works for you.
