Er, this is the first UE 3 game that has been letterboxed for me. In fact, probably the first game period since the PC port of Beyond Good & Evil.

I just saw a Bulletstorm commercial for the first time on tv. They couldn't, I don't know, use clips that didn't have any offensive skillshot names to show one of the main things that sets the game apart? Instead, they just show "This game has a chain gun and you can kick people off cliffs. Oh, and there's colors other than the grimdark palette." As little advertising I've seen plus this neutered commercial, it's like they don't want to move copies.

    "Gears 3 Beta Access Included".

That's all they had to say to move a million copies this month. Every other type of ad is secondary.

The commercial I saw doesn't mention anything about the Gears beta, it's why I thought it was so odd. Make a commercial to sell a game but don't mention/show any reason to buy it over any other shooter out. I was sold the first time I saw a video of uncensored gameplay and gears mp is all kinds of ass to me. I got the epic edition for the extra maps/colors. If I could sell my gears beta access, I would in a heartbeat.

Prettu sure it'll still sell bananas even if they're not touting the free beta access that comes with it in TV ads.

God forbid people use the demo to make judgements about the game. I'd like to see more commercials with a call to action "DEMO AVAILABLE NAO!" Bizzare Studios could still be standing now.

Yeah it's odd how that's not thrown in more at the end of a game's tv spot. But if you listen to the intellectual elite around here apparently only like 15% of next-gen consoles are hooked up the internet at all nowadays so I guess it doesn't make sense to advertise that you can play a bit of it for free anytime you want.

Well i got this and...well, i dunno if i like it. The lack of deathmatch sucks, i like the crazy weapons but the killing creatively system starts to wear off after a while like any novelty, not to say it still isnt fun. That combined with the rediculous amount of swearing and cursing for little to no reason just makes the game seem really childish and immature after a point which im sure isnt what they were going for. The story is also really weak and it feels like they did all the swearing and crazy killing just to veil the weak story.

That always bothered me. The argument that Blur gave away too much to the point that people had no reason to play more. I mean it could very well be right. But what would the right demo have been? Remove one track? Remove some cars? Make the race automatically end one minute in? (Okay that last idea's horrible.)

I really liken it to a combination of Die Hard craziness and Black Hawk Down "GO MILITARY MACHISMO" insanity with tasty fucking weapons... turn your brain off and enjoy the guts and glory.

And, of course, the combination of crazy and salty language may just not be your thing. That's ok. We forgive you. ;-)

and that's the problem i found; i'm not really sure there's a way to make that game's demo in such a way that I want the full game. That bite-sized portion was all I needed.

it pains me to say it since I know it wouldn't have been the same if this is the route they'd gone, but for all intents and purposes, I think it would've done better as an arcade release (even if some of the visual aspects and such had to be dumbed down).

The main difference is that they don't just say fuck every other word. They get creative with their cursing, that is what makes it non-childish for me.

Very little of the swearing was that creative. It was mostly just stringing random words together in sentences that came out awkwardly, like even the voice actors wanted to change the diction.

I love some creative cussing, Bulletstorm did not deliver.

There was no Malcolm Tucker, for a start.

See I found that hilarious sheep. I mean in a game where they are throwing out insults at a mile a minute it was funny that he stopped to analyse that one. "Like what say that again that didn't make any sense."

Also did some echo action after taking a break to play Dragon's age, picked up like 4 cheevos for various things. Got that 2k point echo kill this morning, the mall is fantastic for racking up high high scores.

Thats exactly why I loved it. And his retort? Like he couldn't come up with anything else to say, because he was so confused by the insult.

Can you get the achievement for a 2000 point combo in Echo's mode as well as single player?

I don't think so, or I would have had it for a drilldo combo I did, hell most of my drill kills in single player were for ridiculous points, I haven't played a ton of echoes, but I know when i get that bad boy scores are going up!

Also something to note, there are achievements for doing certain actions in single player that can be completed in echoes (like shoot the guy in the helicopter can be completed on the park echo) For those who want the cheevo but don't neccessarily want to replay a single player level again to get it.

all campaign achievements that aren't related to story progression can be obtained in in echoes, the same as how your skillshots carry over between the modes

That achievement specifically means the guy manning the gun, right? Not a pilot or anything?

I ask cause I can't seem to kill that fucker.

Which level has the nom balls and the fly traps in it?

Yeah just the guy manning the gun. Easiest way to do it is to swap to the sniper at the pod right outside of the area, and then just sight up and fire away, you actually get to steer the bullet for longer than normal against that guy and its an easy shot from there.

Well playing single sometimes I wasn't too concerned with my score, so I just used what worked or what I had ammo for, but on echoes you can go hog wild swap weapons reload etc etc.

A good place for gun achievements is the monorail echo since there is a pod during a section with a ton of enemies.

the monorail is also the place to get your "25 skillshots in an echo" achievement

if you're not particularly good at getting skillshots you could just not care about your time and keep swapping weapons until you had 25. The achievement pops mid-play, you don't have to wait til the end fo the game, so you'll know when to stop

There in lies the issue with leaderboards for things like an echo mode. Personally I'm just trying to outlast my friends list. Which bamsaid the lady and someone else already topped me when I took a break for some DA action. At least I'm ahead of sheep, oh beautiful sucktastic sheep.
