I would love a longer version of meetings like this.

Scott saying "PvP is going stale" when "2011 is a 'make it' or 'break it' year for PvP" has all the makings of a great reality show of its own. He's right though, when I read his strip I feel like it's the last season of a TV show.

edit: Didn't they announce that the four of them were making another comic strip anyway (that looked a lot like PvP)...

I started reading PvP because I like what Scott produces rather than the other way around. It's still good, but it's by far the thing I get the least value from from him.

It was interesting hearing him talk on Webcomics Weekly about new projects a few weeks ago. Dave started a new strip, Kris has got one in the works, and Scott's extolling the virtues of doing so while still sticking by PvP. I think the reason it might feel stale is that the universe is just a little too real - it's a cartoon that could only exist on the Internet but it sticks to a lot of the old newspaper cartoon tropes and doesn't deviate too far. I think making the LOLbat part of PvP proper was a great move, and I think that stuff really breathes life into it.

    tl;dr - can't wait for The Trenches

What I hear you saying is that PvP got better when it stopped being about the cast of PvP and focused on a new characer called lolbat. If that's the case why not end PvP and make a new strip called LolBat?

Eh, no. LOLbat itself isn't the thing. It's about making the PvP universe a little more fast and loose.

I like the characters but everything is always so straight-laced.

    I've never really liked PvP

I think it's because I've never really bought into the idea that characters of a four panel daily strip can develop into characters I care about beyond being a vehicle for jokes

I had the same problem with Starslip after a while, but it still managed to be funny on a daily basis

Fourth panel is by far my favorite PA tvs.

I read PvP for a while but it just felt too much like a crappy sitcom after a while. I started expecting laugh tracks or something equally dumb from it.

They were going to pretty recently. It was called The Morning After. Not sure what happened to it.

There's a ton of old shows available online, though.

Haha, that reminds me of when I was in college/just out of college. When I'd hang out with friends, invariably a tennis ball, or stress ball or something would turn up and it would just get tossed around the room as we talked, with pauses to shame whoever fucked up a throw or catch.

I also really enjoy Kurtz's commentary (especially when he's partnered with Kris) more than I do his comic particularly — I wish they were more consistent about producing Morning After (which seems to have lapsed at this point) or Webcomics Weekly, but it's free so I'll take what I can get.

What is the latest on The Trenches after all? It seems from this video that collaborative writing between the two duos is still a relatively new thing so I hope it's not too far off. And season two of the Blams!
