Campion, you are delightful. I've tried the new trendy crayon look, but I failed. I'll stick with my markers so the pros like you can go on with their merry way (:
@Pierceneck- You a warhammer 40k fan? I understand that its based off of a great unclean one, but if you play the actual game, that would make one awesome greater demon or demon prince of nurgle!

I showed it to the guys at the studio and they suggested i add weapons/items which make it look like the character has been around alot. I took elements from Indian, Japanese, European culture etc. and added them, to various elements on his outfit. Due thursday as a turnaround and 1 quick illustration study.

wck, people give you some harsh critique (and harsh critique for not listening to said critique) but you have improved shitloads since you started posting here, it is pretty awesome if you compare where you were then to where you are now
that said, I dig his costume, but his shoulders seem crazy wide or his head is small or both
edited for yeah you should fix what pierceneck pointed out, I hadn't seen that haha

Im not a fan of the shoulders either. I was to go for a blizzard style proportions. Here are the three styles i developed. The first wasnt appropriate for the brief and the last one was too beefy. (i actually like the last one minus the head)
@orikae- yeah I would. it is really powerful for comics, but it's also super awesome for preparing lines like that and it's definitely the best program I've used for applying tones. I am using manga studio ex 4.0 or something like that

Are there any good videos or tutorials on working with charcoal? Like the basics. I feel like I'm holding the stuff wrong even. It feels awkward.

Of course the quality of the college varies, but generally it's a lot cheaper than any private schools dedicated to it.
This of course is something you should consider if you're damn near broke, like me.

Wow, that is not remotely how I learned to use charcoal. Interesting idea, though. I might give it a try.

The skin tones and shading are off the chain on that one. If I had a hat, it would be off.
