Good News, Everyone! [Futurama] is Back!

A new thread, why not? The old one reached the century mark, and the Sunset Squad summarily dragged it kicking and screaming to Maple Street.

So let's get straight to the Good News™ already!

Maurice LaMarche: Futurama renewed! For two more seasons! All Glory To The Hypnotoad!
13 new episodes have been ordered, with an additional 13 optional. This is apart from the 13 episodes that will air beginning in June, 2011, on Comedy Central. So, yes, they will air in 13 episode blocks (Comedy Central loves those, for some reason), so that means there will be new Futurama in summer of 2012, and most probably in summer of 2013 as well, all off of this one order. Pretty good news, actually, don’tcha think? Because we kind of spread it out, so there are always new episodes to look forward to. That’s how I look at it, anyway.

Hear that?

That's me, doin' the Bender . . .

Have not been watching this on tv. But bought season 5 on dvd. The writing is some damn good quality. Season four quality. Better than the movies.

Not quite Jurassic Bark. But good.

It was great. The time travel episode was one of the best episodes of the show ever.

Man, this and Venture Brothers renewal news makes me such a happy camper!

It took a while to gain some impetus but on the whole it was a really good season.

    Yay for new Futurama!

I've been catching up with Season 5 on Netflix.

I've been really impressed so far with the quality.

Just to clear up any confusion, these two just-announced seasons are in addition to the new season that will come out later this year.

So, to keep count, there are actually THREE new seasons on the way.

    So stoked!

Man, am I happy right now!

I loved season five, but I saw that, around the time that the first few episodes were released, people around the internet had problems with it for the stupidest reasons. I think the most common reason I saw was that people thought the writing was too different, which is obviously false.

I was afraid that they weren't gonna renew the show after season five, so this is good news indeed.

I don't know about you guys but Godfellas is one of my all-time favorites.

God: "Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket."
Bender: "Or when a guy burns down a bar for the insurance money!"
God: "Yes, if you make it look like an electrical thing."

I have to say, somewhere along the way, Godfellas surpassed Roswell That Ends Well as my favorite Futurama episode. Although the Roswell episode still has the best line of any Futurama episode...

sometimes i think that i am a comedy neanderthal

like, i appreciate well crafted and structured humor, too

but at the same time, some things can... simply make me laugh- no matter what

like, voice actors i mean... does that make me a low brow doofus

if zoidberg makes his 'whoop whoop whoop' noise, or roger from AD! cries pitifully with a glass of chardonay in one hand and a cigarette in the other... i'll laugh

    maybe i'm easy to please

The Jaimaica song is my favorite outside of the Robot Hell one, but the one I find myself singing at random times is the Devil interrupting the opera in Devil's Hands.

My two all-time favorite jokes are:
"I'm not good with words, which is why I'm in such a delicate conundrum."
    and: Rook takes Pawnshop

I remember Futurama best for the episode about Fry's brother and the clover. I totally cried in front of all my friends and tried to hide it.

Then, a few days later, they aired the one about Fry's dog and they all cried and I made fun of them.
Even though I was crying on the inside.

The only reason I didn't cry after watching Jurassic Bark was because I heard from EVERYONE how sad it was. That kinda kills a lot of emotion.

But god I came close. What an ending.
