The Beatles are one of those bands that get such worshipful adulation that they can't help but be overrated. And I think it's largely a function of being the seminal band of the baby boomer generation - there have been bands before and since that deserve as much praise, but didn't have as much of an effect on the culture of a generation that is both large in number and dominant culturally.

Ugh now my brain is running through all the variables that can skew a study like that.

IIRC the specific thing i was reading was basically a profile of what time determined to be "typical" families in various countries. They had several for different regions of the US. The feature had a photo splash of the families posing with their weekly grocery consumption/ purchase, which was of course unscientific in and of itself, but i believe it was meant to be representative of whatever research/ polling they had done.

I remember one of the American family (probably the "Southern US" family) was a suburban black family swimming in Dominos and Little Debbie boxes.

Tav how do you knock back bottles of straight vodka as pre-gaming and stout is, like, too much?

1 pt vodka, 2 parts pepsi max

    can't even taste the vodka

    ahhhhh

Most beers taste like grape soda to me these days, so I have to go dark/bitter to really drink one.

Man, I'd love to try out more beers but I'm far too poor. I can't justify spending €6 on a pint when a 500ml can of Carlsberg is €1. A friend of mine is into homebrewing and it's so goooooood.

I view the Beatles music the same way I view Billy Joel's music: Both had some songs I like and a lot of songs that, while not bad by any means, would never ever end up on a playlist in my iPod.

A Day in the Life is literally better than the entire rest of the beatles catalog I have heard combined

    probably the rest too

    I don't understand it

it gives me that weird uncomfortable feeling I get on the occasions Ron Paul is making sense about foreign policy or something

whatever combination of drugs they were on when they wrote that must have accidentally turned into the philosopher's stone

the beatles are hells of not great

i forget what your objection to the beatles was again
mostly that they are not great

i would say they are pretty great

they were very musically significant, they have a wide range of sounds, they have tons of really catchy, well-made pop songs, some strong ballads, some songs with solid lyrical writing, some funky weird psychedelic shit

i mean they have tons of really average or boring songs too but that's because they're very prolific
I mostly don't care about three of those four things so they are super boring

and I can get funkier, weirder psychadelic shit elsewhere

A Day in the Life is a really fucking great song though

I have no idea where that came from

you're allowed not to be interested but that's a far cry from saying they are not great

also if you have no appreciation for good pop music i bid you GOOD DAY SIR

Yah, Will I would take it with a grain of salt. Its a pretty complex issue(food shopping) since it changes per region, social class, race, access to fresh food and the cost of such food. Kind of like in Detroit in some parts it is near impossible to get fresh food. I don't think I would make sweeping generalizations till I had seen the full research and what they considered a "typical" American family.

to be honest the plot branches are a lot more minor now, so storywise it seems a lot less replayable than origins

the vastly improved gameplay makes up for it though, I think

it's less "what happens if I put Bhelen on the throne this time" and more "I bet an archer rogue would be fun"
