Ensemble was never up to the task of balancing and patching their games post-release, and publishing via Microsoft only exacerbated that, I suppose.

My dim recall is that AoM wasn't bug-plagued on release, but it was unbalanced and exploitable, and that took way too long to be patched. And Ensemble never fixed all the issues before they dropped support.

I do still miss the gameplay, though. :P

He is credited for having been the first person in the United States to have worn during a ball, at a time when the tailcoat was still the rule, a white dinner jacket, sent to him by the London tailor Henry Poole & Co "to be worn for a quiet dinner at home or at an evening's entertainment at a summer resort". He was immediately ordered off the floor.

Look at him. Spiting Will from over 100 years ago.

Until less than 2 week before going gold Age of Mythology had this bug where if you had unit(s) selected and right clicked on something for which there was no default interaction (eg: accidentially clicking on a tree instead of the ground with combat units selected - and this happens ALL THE TIME) they would all decide to walk to a certain point on the map (it was the same for all players but different each time you played). Us testers called it the "happy spot".

So you'd tell an army to move somewhere and just barely click on the edge of a tree instead of the ground and if you didn't pay attention suddenly all your guys are over on the far corner of the map just hanging around.

It was because their design doc for AoM was basicially "see AOE2".

They never had the foggiest notion of how to balance the units in the game and I dont think any amount of patching would have fixed a fundamentally broken system.

You know, I've beaten Advent Rising 7 or 8 times, and I always get lucky during the Koroem fight. Never had much trouble. Today, though, the game keeps crashing.

So now I'm curious: is it meant to be a gauntlet, or is there a trick to the fight I've never stumbled upon?

Reading last year's exam for this course where I'm replacing a prof.

"Determine if there is an error in each of these code segments. If there are no errors, write 'no errors'. Some segments may contain multiple errors."

Is it just me, or is that kind of a bitch of a question.
