I'm talking about games with boards/cards/miniatures in which you have to sit across a table from other humans and look them in the eye as you roll dice in order to proclaim dominance over them. Either that or just have a good time?
catan is excellent for getting people into non-monopoly board games but if you play it too much you run the risk of a few people getting hypercompetitive and therefore furious. (this can also be kind of fun in its own way)
My group had to stop playing Catan because we have one guy thats super serious about everything he does, and god it does not take 20 minutes to figure out all the odds on all the places you could put your god damn first towns just choose you fuck!

Oh how to explain Robo Rally...
It's just, well you got this factory floor, and everyone has a robot to control with program cards, and there's lasers and conveyor belts and pits and pushers and crushers... and it's a race.
my group of friends went like, catan --> carcassonne --> puerto rico --> dominion -- agricola --> holy shit agricola is fucking insane --> haven't bought anything since
My board game friends introduced me to a card game called Phase 10. Basically every round theres a set of cards you need to move on and for every card you have left at the end of a round you get points, its somewhat complicated and they told me I would lose a few games and eventually catch on.
I got a perfect game on my first play simply out of luck. We don't play Phase 10 anymore.
my friends and i moved on to puerto rico and enjoyed that. also that seems to be a pretty popular recommendation for people who want to move on from catan.

But you also have to realize that dice rolls do not want you to win this game no matter how good your city placement is.
This is fucking bullshit and I quit.

I have so much warhammer 40k shit, but no one to play with.
Also I run a D&D 4E game with 2 other people. (Playing 2 characters is weird for RP purposes.)

I'm wondering if people would be down for a WH40k day at PAX this year. Might be something fun to do. Just a series of small 500 pt games.
Fuck
Yes
The one closest to me on meetup.com is an hour away and I cant really host one in my tiny apartment.
I will play the shit out of both eventually. Just as soon as I'm done with Total War: Shogun. Which might not be for a while.
also Robo Rally looks boss, what is that about?

I've been gettin' the itch to play some mousetrap lately.
It is very much a deckbuilding game requiring lots of comboing with other cards in your deck and it's awesome.
Also OP needs more Dark Heresy.
The Sixth World is awesome atmosphere, built around a crap system.

yeah.
in SE but I realized I didn't have time
I should do that once the summer rolls around
I was always the dwarf.
Same. But I was like, 6 or so at the time, so I barely remember it, and probably didn't contribute much to the group.
