who so far has been given the power to kill (stupidity) within the foruming population? I mean we can clearly identify our master and our overlords, but now we also have, what? A secret police?

Just because someone is a troublemaker doesn't mean we have to give them the boot. I think that for a long time now there has been a culture of pandering to the "popular" culture of the forum and "putting down" anyone that disagrees. In the early days of this forum, we had strong-willed mods that didn't operate that way. Loser, for example, wouldn't really ban anyone short of a goatse post. And if someone else did, he would start hell in the mod forum, or sometimes just unban them himself. Nowadays, people get banned just because they are "annoying". Well, suck it up. This is Penny fucking Arcade. You're going to have a touch of brash annoyance every now and then. Deal with it.

I'm also sick of coddling the poor saps that can't break free of this place of their own will. So they do something like posting porn or giving away their password. Well, fuck them too. They can go to jail and keep their fucking account.

yeah perhaps I should rephrase the question then. Who's been given the power to jail?

    this is correct.

I will start signing up deputies AFTER we go through a break-in/testing period with just the mods having the ability.

I also still have yet to implement the unjailing code, and I need to mark the jailed people in such a way that it cannot be spoofed ( which I've seen done at least 3 times now )

if you could add a graphic to the title or location, then wouldn't that fix it?

or you could pass a rule that says 'if you are impersonating a jailed member, then we can remedey your problem quick."

You could have grey bars appear over their avatar showing all that they have been jailed.

Porn with grey bars over it is still porn, and jailed asshats are still asshats.

Ecoterrorism is actually the single largest terrorist threat at the moment. They don't usually kill people, but they blow up or set on fire very expensive things.

i think he means above the avatar.

right now, the avatar is already replace. some small pic or something around the avatar/title/location/name should solve everything

I like Munkus' idea of jailing people who are just faking it.

Or, do you think that you could put a little jailed icon right by their quote button?

i think there is a thread about this.

    not permanant
jailed = no bbc code, avvy, title, or sig
    posting abilities are limited
making new threads is also limited

some deputies are assigned just in case a mod is gone to jail people

this was added because ramius was tired of people getting banned becaause they were complete and utter idiots
