I am surprised Colbert didn't immediately have a Muslim imam come on and talk about being a Muslim.
In fact, I think Colbert should have a Muslim figure come on every night he decides to be Muslim. Would make for a great conversation piece, and some defusing to Muslim tensions. Also, a way of sticking it to Terry Jones.
I think they'll do one more--for his final show. (He doesn't leave until the end of 2011, right?)
I think it'll get a passing mention, but unless Beck does something really crazy, I don't see them revisiting it. It would be incredibly hard to top the last one, which did feel like an all-out finale to the parodies.
Colbert should have started the show with "Good news everyone, the government didn't shut down!"

Last night, Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) appeared on Fox News to explain his uncompromising position over funding the federal government. At one point, Pence appeared to let the truth slip out about the true aims of Republican negotiators, telling host Greta Van Susteren that what Republicans are trying to do is score a victory for “the Republican people.” Soon after realizing that he said that out loud, he backtracked, saying that he wants to score a victory for “the American people,” not the Republican Party:
PENCE: Well, I don’t know if we’re checkmating. But we’re trying — we’re trying to score a victory for the Republican people, for — for the American — for the Republican people — trying to score a victory for the American people, not for the Republican Party. That victory is going to come in stages here.

Colbert almost lost his composure during the whole middle segment. Sooooo close. I love it when that happens.

I expect Maddow to be aggressive in trying to get the guy on her show and asking him directly about it. She's that kind of person and it's why I respect her. We'll see though, eh?
Mike Pence would never go anywhere near a smart woman, let alone a smart lesbian.
Republican leadership is smart enough to not go onto 'hostile' programs, in general.

Kinda expected a little more out of Adam and Jamie, but you could definitely tell Adam wanted to bite more on the evolution myth testing.
Too bad he's a puss. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement

I recall him bringing it up himself in interviews earlier in Mythbusters' history, that evolution is something he'd love to be able to tackle one day but probably isn't going to get the chance. Given sufficient time, he'd have been all over it for days.
Then again, there have been a couple they figured at one point were not something they'd be up for that they wound up doing. Taking candy from a baby, for example. 'We won't do it' is more like 'we haven't figured out how we would test it in a family show-friendly manner'.

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

Entering the thread to have your post be the first one I see, outside of pronoun-clarifying context, was viscerally terrifying.
Having ads kick in the middle of a god damned segment is extremely old.
To the point where I don't even care about the Jon Beck segment anymore because even though I'm sure it's hilarious after four tries?
I still can't fucking watch it

Why do you think Beck is leaving his gig at Fox?
Answer: to hide in his 2012 Tsuquakecanonadocanelocust-proof bunker until the apocalypse.

Ironically the only real use that gold would have after the fall of everything.
Didn't you hear the man?
He's leaving to fight in the revolution.
I hope he picks the Libyan one; that will turn out nicely.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
He will fit right in with all the other crazy dictators.
you can watch it on hulu again now
You could always watch it in Firefox with adblock plus installed.

That Mike Pearce is a fucking pure asshole of the greatest magnitude? He makes Dan Quayle look humane.
Also makes Dan Quayle look like a genius.
What an asshole.
Nice to see Jon calling people on their shit.
I expect to see Maddow do so... err, more.
