Far too much intrigue too quickly for me to handle.
Spreadsheets and secret forums
First day or two is always like this. People got nothing better to do than post theories and accusations all over the place.
Usually you start seeing some actual organization and progress after that. Which is a shame.
It's a good time for getting gut feelings about people though! Mafia be chatting in their proboards and good specials be freaking out and trying to figure out who to target with what in all the chaos and villagers attempting shenanigans and first-timers being confused to hell and back.
They know who they are, and they know all their allies, and they probably got access to a veteran or two to help them out with dealing with strangeness if they are new to phalla'ing.
It almost makes me feel bad that all the silly shit I do will probably end up hurting more than it helps.
and by that I mean please don't kill me, bad guys, oh god I'll do whatever you say just send me a PM with all of your names and roles and what you want and I'll do it, just let me liiiiive.

There are actually quite a few people with very little knowledge of MSPA playing, aren't there.
It could be an interesting element to play off, I guess.
Someone far more cunning than I will probably do something fun.
are you the one other dude in brisbane who reads mspa
i think i met you at a party
Wha...??
What party would that be?
I don't go to that many parties where I meet people I don't know...

Have you read the article about the game? It's actually interesting. The whole thing is whether an informed minority can beat an uninformed majority. Each little tweak and twist you put in the game drastically affects the statistics of the outcome.
Then you have crazy shit like the seer dying on the first day or the vigilante and the villagers missing the badguys completely.
Things can get out of hand really fast, as the more death mechanics that are in play in the game, the more likely things are to go pear shaped.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
the fact that it is so obviously in a bad guy's interest to never post and to keep his head down lends itself to the notion that a bad guy would be trying to hide in plain sight, by making big posts and big statements
OF COURSE a bad guy could easily realize that and so could go around the loop again, meaning that he would be hiding out of sight
Anyone that votes for Gumpy is most likely a terrorist. Anyone that votes for Gumpy will face serious repercussions.
Is this a ploy to divert attention from my mafia ally? Or is it a ploy to garner more attention to the few votes Gumpy has and possibly subject him to a bandwagon? Find out next episode!
I've seen what Gumpy can do in a position of power.
Clearly, he's either our greatest asset or someone who has to die immediately
Nah, he aint that bad, Gumpy can't quite keep a hood over the eyes of the village the entire game without some really helpful circumstances.
Like say, a village that is sent hurtling against the walls with little hope of independent survival as superpowered factions battle it out while swatting aside villagers as mere collateral, forcing the village to put blind trust in autocratic figures who almost certainly don't have the best of intentions since even if their internal voices are telling him there's something wrong with the man, there's really no options left besides obeying the one they've chosen.
But I mean, come on.
who would host a game like that

Btw, guys, that's a pretty mafia standard thing. Being no part of the discussion unless it is to steer it away from their evil allies.

A giant cavern of wiggle room
No posting in this thread, you had your chance.
Small changes made in the OP. Please keep an eye on it as the game progresses.
Let him in!
Because it would not be immediately obvious to everyone that he would be a villager.
He will be kept in reserve, in case someone drops due to inactivity.
