Dverse, you may want to focus on your proportion. Measure you body height by the size of the heads you draw. Your bodies are about 6 heads tall, when proper proportion is 8 1/2. Unless you're intending on them being larger.
What I do is, I make an area to draw the full body, but I don't measure out the body parts. So I start at the top with large heads and torso's but fat and stubby legs. You can even see in the female manikin drawings I tried to compensate but I cut off the legs.
I think a combination of doing drawing warm up exercises and studying proportions on larger paper and life drawings will help.
A friend of mine suggested I make maquettes of a head, male and female figures out of sculpy to retain the information better and to have a 3d reference there as I draw. Maybe that will be the goal for this coming week.
I am forever destined to be one day late - too lazy to do an extra day of work on Saturday >_o
An oekaki I worked on over the week, a page of life drawings (which I need to do more often), and of course, more Loomis. Not quite able to do two pages per study, but still seems like I managed a decent chunk of work. I'm eager to move past his first book since it doesn't delve too deeply into structure but building up the foundations for these figures and working up their detail is good prep.
As you may remember from last time, we had some shenanigans in a space station and the ongoing steampunk story.
That latter tale had finally gained enough momentum to get interesting, so I'm focusing on that this week.
Remember how the floor broke open? Well, that was done to introduce a new ongoing villain. Something really weird and pissed off. Problem was, I didn't know what that was going to be.
I went through a few species candidates until I settled on mollusks. First attempt came out like this:
March 6th
As you can tell from my notes there, this first attempt has a lot of problems. It looks like a Darth Vader/Mind Flayer/Trashcan love child.
So I recalled the advice the AC always gives: STUDY ANATOMY.
This forced me to pick a particular mollusk to try to render. After dalliances with octopi, squids, and an unfortunate experience involving a snail, I found my perfect match in the form of a cuttlefish:
March 7th
Better, but still not entirely working. Problem was, it lacked menace.
So I remembered the other piece of AC advice: DRAW FROM LIFE
Lucky me, I found this sweet youtube video of angry cuttlefish. These little guys are about the size of a child's hand, but check out how angry this one gets at the 1:14 mark. Now THAT'S a villain!
What's wonderful about this is that as the video goes on, the entire group floats up toward their perceived enemy -- but get this: at least two of them have their backs to the threat, which means they are forming a protective ring. Pretty slick moves for such little guys.

I actually scanned this in on Saturday and then just forgot to upload it...
Anyway, yeah, next page. It's pretty bad and I've made a bunch of mistakes but I didn't get a chance to fix them up thanks to my workload. Hopefully this weeks will be better.
Drew some days last week but didn't manage a full week so I didn't post. It won't technically be a drawing a day, but I'll work in a hypothetical week's worth of work next week.
Need to take greater care with my work ethic to avoid this. Balancing drawings meant for learning and those meant for fun/experimentation also is a must - I'm definitely a fish out of water when it comes to studying from artbooks but I hope it's something that gets easier with experience.
Loving all those quick figures, Glipher. Also kudos for tackling perspective studies!
It's...been a slow week at Pukioville, but I've finally started futzing with some cheap acrylics I've had forever. Still trying to figure out how to handle them. The last time I painted with anything but watercolor was in elementary school or something, so I'm kind of suffering.
Been a while. Glad everyone else is keeping the faith.
As you may remember from last time, a trio of armored cuttlefish were attacking a steampunk factory. So off we go:
March 27th
March 28th
March 29th
March 30th
The End! Of Chapter 1, at least. They managed to escape with their overclocked combat zeppelin, but at the cost of their factory. Bummer.
Now, off to space. Actually, a space station, where we return to a space mugging, already in progress:
March 31st
April 1st
April 2nd
Well, that mugging sure got botched. The lesson: don't wave your victim's weapons close to your face. Also, watch out for those telescoping spanners.
Next Week: getting out of this jam, then a look at what Script Frenzy is producing.
Haven't been on time at all for the past month. Need to get my stuff together. Also, probably aim for quality, not quantity but I've always been a stickler about paper space.
I think I'm stepping over the "I can't do anythiiiiing why do I bother" hurdle at least! Three months staying mostly faithful to the resolution is definitely easier said than done; you guys are all a great inspiration (:

Got a little messed up with work stuff so I've pretty much skipped a week, so I've only done 2 pages over the last 3 weeks:
My biggest issue right now I think (obviously there are many problems with my work) is faces all I'm doing is these kinda mongol-oid weird faces so I'm gonna try and focus on that next week.
Nibcrom! Glad to see you back. Gilpher, Halos: way to keep with it. Don't let missing a week stop you.
Did I say in the OP that you couldn't make up for past weeks? Why, it is to laugh! Haha, that was a tricky mind trick. Also, here's my unloading a three weeks' backlog!
As you may remember from last time, we had some adventures in spaaaaace(-station). To wit: that mugging interrupted by head-whacking with a telescoping wrench.
April 3rd
April 4th
April 5th
April 6th
April 7th
April 8th-17th: focused on writing for Script Frenzy. No drawings. Went to the Stumptown Comics Fest which was terrific, second only to PAX in my opinion. I got to meet Steve Kuntz in person. He was cool and playing a DS, reinforcing the vidgames/comics connection.
April 18th
For a change of pace, I whipped up a banner in photoshop.
April 19th
Note that the spaceship there in the first panel required some design, as I'll probably be using it again. so I made this:
April 20th
April 21st
April 22nd
Note that we end this page with a more different ship than the one on April 8th/9th, so I sketched up a schematic for that, too:
April 23rd
Ah, better. Nothing like finally getting around to what you said you'd do three weeks ago.
The story will be staying in space for at least another week. Then I'm going to try lettering some old west pages and maybe more post-apocalyptica in May. Also, time for a signature change. Next Week: guess we'll see what happens
Encouraging words Slack - after having missed a week already, I'm not very eager to face the guilt of missing another! Didn't post last week because, frankly, I was too distracted by Pokémanz to upload my stuff. Still need to double-time it for that missed week but I'll focus on uploading on time right now.
Since my last post, I've moved on to Loomis's Figure Drawing book. Taking it slow and I'm not always paying as much attention on it as I know I should, but things are slowly coming together.
Got a tablet also and, though I still can't say I'm very sure of what I'm doing, my hands are feeling much more comfortable. I tried a tablet once before but, not having much experience with digital media, I quickly got frustrated by it. Experimenting with it a bit as I did earlier in the year certainly helped with getting my brain accustomed to it. Next I'd like to explore watercolors, but there's still some experimenting I should do before then.
Like your anatomy stuff Glipher. But one of the most charming things about david (I think), the dark curly lines in his hair, could use some work (lest u only wanted to focus on the face).
Why sure, you can join late. It's all about the motivation to create on a consistent basis. Post more than once or twice and I'll even add you to the original post as a "late entry".
Speaking of late entries, here's mine for last week.
As you may remember from last time, I was working on that story for www.solar-salvage.com where there was a spaceship-themed interlude immediately following a semi-failed mugging.
April 24th
Did the front of one of the ships. Not too thrilling, really, but shows that it is radially isometric.
April 25th
Then the front of another. Not quite as isometric, because it's made out of random junk.
And now returning to the story:
April 26th
April 27th
April 28th
April 29th
April 30th
There you go! Some dude with a scar on his face sayin' something. Thrilling stuff.
Next Week: want to get a bit more into lettering for the month of May. Here's hoping.

'Tis exam time at the place of Halos, and so my drawing has been slipping with all this revision nonsense to do. I've decided to put my comic thingy on hiatus for a while to focus more on basic drawing things (not least because little sketches are quicker.)
So with that in mind here are a couple of pages of faces and things:
Going to upload some lettered pages later tonight, but just wanted to get in early and remind everyone reading this that it is Free Comic Book Day today.
Even if you're not into the funny pages, it's worth your while to support your local comic shop. Pound for pound, they probably sell more art than any other gallery in town.
EDIT: here are my pages!
As you may remember from last time, well, that didn't matter. Because it was in space. This week is a little different, as I tried a new hand-lettering technique with that old west story I drew last year.
With letters, it actually starts to look like a comic book. A free comic book. Enjoy.
May 1st
May 2nd
May 3rd
May 4th
May 5th
May 6th
May 7th
And there you go. That's the first time I've tried hand lettering. Do you think it works?
Next Week: find out what happens next.
As you may remember from last time, why, we had a free comic going about some mummy-lookin' ringfighter dude makin' bets in a godforsaken town in the old west. Let's see how that turned out:
May 8th
May 9th
May 10th
May 11th
May 12th
May 14th
I reckon that's the way things really happened back then. And if they didn't, they should have.
Next Week: getting back into space with some fun facts about radiation.
Been three weeks since I last updated. Wanted to come back with the week that I missed done, and now it turns out that I'm missing five additional days. Still kind of surprised that I'm keeping at the resolution to begin with, but no point in not posting altogether.
@ Halos Nach Tariff - I'd say some of them look very much like humans. Particularly the head on the girl in the upper left corner of your first picture. Taken by itself, it definitely one of your more lifelike faces you've made.
Hope your exams [are going / went] well and you'll rejoin the thread soon!
@ harryk - Your pen drawings do not fail to impress. The confidence and looseness in your strokes is something that I admire a lot.
Not much else I can say, really!
@ m3nace - Thanks! I'm afraid it feels like I'm just copying lines and not thinking about the the figure in multiple dimensions at times, but I guess that's what happens when you've never done any drawing from live models. It's a little draining working with exact measurements since the 8 heads rule is so heavily emphasized, but I understand why proportions are important.
Also, I agree, David's curls really do help define the sculpture for me. One problem that I've gone through in these daily drawings is... making them daily drawings! Most of the stuff I do I don't work on for more than the allotted day and I guess it's just because I get bored easily. Spreading out work across multiple days seems like a better idea to ensure better rendering (as well as a reasonable amount of fun) so I'll be thinking about that a little more for future drawings.
@ Slacktron - I like your lettering! I'm also glad I haven't visited this thread in a while, since I was therefore able to read your latest story start to finish. A pleasure to go over (:
The main thing I have to suggest improvement on though are the thickness of the borders of your textboxes. Your drawings incorporate a variety of different thicknesses whereas your textboxes are always the same thickness. Because of this, they seem to fade a little too much into the background. Not to say they should be super thick since they shouldn't draw too much attention from the picture, but as is they don't seem to stick out enough.
Maybe it'll help to explain what I mean if you squint your eyes while looking at your pictures. Since the textboxes you use are generally surrounded by white you cannot easily differentiate your textboxes from the background. Yet the thickness of your borders can also be important when not surrounded by white, eg: your crowd scene on the last panel of May 5'ths drawing. With the strokes for your lettering being very light combined with the thickness of your textboxes, they simply don't mesh very well with your drawing.
Obviously, as a comic, the text can be just as important (if not more) than your drawings. Most of all though, you want to make sure that one does not detract from the other, which I think you do well in the placement of your textboxes, but is hurt by the presentation of your textboxes. I could also see boldening your lettering as being a good option but I'd like to see if textbox thickness makes any significant difference.
Hope you can make sense out of this jumble of words! I'm not quite sure of them myself
@ yalborap (and any other people possibly interested in joining)- If you want to participate then go right ahead. If you've got doubts about trying, the hardest step is convincing yourself to put your foot in the door. If you've got second thoughts, there's really no reason to be having them. Whether you're looking at art as a hobby, profession, or whatever else, you can only benefit from joining in - doesn't matter if you started at the beginning of the year or the end of it, the point is to simply spend more time making art.

Since I am posting so much I put the previous two weeks in spoilers.
This is for 03/06 - 03/12
03/13 - 03/19
And lastly 03/20 - Today (03/26)
Need to take greater care with my work ethic to avoid this. Balancing drawings meant for learning and those meant for fun/experimentation also is a must - I'm definitely a fish out of water when it comes to studying from artbooks but I hope it's something that gets easier with experience.
It's...been a slow week at Pukioville, but I've finally started futzing with some cheap acrylics I've had forever. Still trying to figure out how to handle them. The last time I painted with anything but watercolor was in elementary school or something, so I'm kind of suffering.
Still pretty poor quality but I'm starting to see where I'm going wrong so this week I'll try to work on fixing the obvious errors I can see...

Next I'd like to explore watercolors, but there's still some experimenting I should do before then.
So with that in mind here are a couple of pages of faces and things:
Some of them even almost look like humans!
