I'm not sure if this has been suggested/requested before, did a quick google search and couldn't find a mention.

I think that it would make the forums much more usable if clicking a thread name took you to the first unread post rather than to the OP. Surely this is the desired destination in nearly every forum topic click and would make navigating the forums on a mobile device much much better.

May probably cut down on unnecessary page requests as well.

EDIT: I know about the little button that does this but it is nigh on impossible to touch on my iphone without zooming in lots. We get the thread -> latest post behaviour if selecting a title from the 'Last Post' section on the right hand side of the forums at the higher level.

    Are you aware that the option already exists? You click on the little "page" icon to the left of the thread title.

    It would help if the little page icon were bigger, but possibly the new forums may take a different approach altogether.

    IMO, the easiest fix would be to wrap that link around the orange / blue dots and just get rid of those tiny page icons altogether.

    Those are used by the mods to lock topics. The new forums are supposed to have a mobile version anyways so hopefully it won't be an issue.

    There are greasemonkey scripts that make the thread title go to the first unread post.

    Anyone know how to do this under the new design? I see a slightly blue left border on the thread titles row, but it's not clickable.

    I'm viewing this via the latest version of Chrome (using Ubuntu).

    Edit: Nm, should have read the FAQ in the new design subforum.
