I remember hearing about some teacher who got fired because he had porn drawings of Lisa/Bart from the Simpsons on his hard drive.

Way back, my friend used to let his little brother use his computer. Even gave him a little folder called "Tim's stuff" that he could keep his things in. He promised to never go in there and that Tim could have complete privacy.

We looked in Tim's folder once.

    Full of Simpsons porn.

I go there to find pictures of spaceships for my tumblr, but these are very brief and narrowly defined forays onto the site.

Of course, Tumblr just naturally puts weird pictures into my face for harmless tags, like "monster girls", lolis as part of horrible cyborg constructs etc.

I know why you're laughing (and I don't really care, kpop boy :P), but there's a surprisingly large amount of good art submitted to DA. You just have to scroll past a bunch of horribly amateur and sometimes creepy things to get to it. It's worth the slight time investment to me, I don't exactly have a ton of important things to do.

I love pigs, I want to kiss them and marry them. I also want to have sex with a female pig.

    This is the best.

And loli is lolicon, a Japanese thing, it's hentai of underage girls. I think it's still totally legal there, but if you try and import it to the US or the UK or something, authorities will fuck you up on child porn possession charges.

Which, personally, I don't really get. They're drawings.

Yeah I dunno. I can get why people might be weirded out by that, but making it illegal seems like you're stepping into thought-crime territory.

I suppose a lot of the fear comes from the idea that those pictures might not be "enough" after a while and then the danger happens when they look for the real thing.

I get where the fear comes from, but like many assumptions made by people, it might make sense to some people based on first thought, but there's no real evidence to prove that it's the case. There isn't even a strong correlation between looking at/having loli and child molestation for people to wrongly assume causation, they just think "Well if they look at X kind of pictures eventually they'll move on to molesting children" sort of slippery slope logic, when in reality there's not much to suggest that's actually the case. So people are punishing others out of their own fear which is not well founded in reality.

While listening to the radio this morning, I heard some pretty real talk about the Sony thing - interviews with real, live Gamezorz about what it means when something you have purchased has key features which simply disappear. I can’t even imagine the fear they are feeling in their underground bunker at Microsoft, how many pizza men have been sniped just on principle. I'm sure they are eating things out of cans without heating the contents, cutting themselves occasionally on the serrated edge. I saw a truly amazing article on Krocataw that suggested that no networks anywhere were safe ever, but to keep using them every day because you have no choice.

This report was on Morning edition on NPR, it was pretty hilarious to hear people talking about the PSN loss in tones most would reserve for the loss of a friend or parent.

It reminds me of an error I used to get on my old computer, sometimes it wouldn't boot correctly (I think there was a connection problem with one of the wires), it would just come up on the opening DOS prompt with

    "BIOS DOES NOT BE INSTALLED"

that was it, the entire message. The first time it happened, my friend and I weren't even upset about the computer, we just about died from laughing at my illiterate motherboard.

    That was an interesting perspective.

Then again, it was from a person who makes their living offering security services. Maybe that’s just what his sales pitch looks like.

It's the ONLY sales pitch these days, Tycho.
