srsly tho i went to a koren restaurant the other night and it was fuckin amazing. kalbi is so awesome
Yeah yakiniku (korean bbq) restaurants here always have all-you-can-eat deals, but I usually just eat meatmeatmeat and don't touch rice or whatever.
The little dishes of beansprouts/carrot etc (namplu in Japanese I think, but dunno Korean) are really nice but not as good as meatmeatmeat.
this was a korean bbq, but it didn't do all you can eat of meat. they basically cooked up an order
they'd bring as much of the little korean pickled side dishes as we wanted. and it was a lot of meat per order (we finished it, but had to kind of stretch there at the end).
i have a lot of appreciation for korean food. it doesn't seem to have quite the range of chinese - the koreans really double down on the red bean/ sweet red chili/ garlic/ sesame/ vinegar, but to their credit it is pretty great.
There is more variety to Korean food but you'll only find it in Korea.
Of course China is a hundred times bigger and has had a lot longer to be adapted for western palates, so they can't compete at all.
