Phalla is a mafia-style game played on these forums, generally in Critical Failures. It involves a set number of players who scheme against each other in order to fulfill their win conditions. Phallas can run the gamut from extremely basic to the extremely convoluted. Reference this for more information.
This Phalla will be an extremely basic or "bare-bones" game. It is designed to help bring new people into the fold and hopefully create a renaissance in Phalla participation. All are welcome, and vets are encouraged to join. In the spirit of resurrecting this fine forum institution, no one will be turned away and the Phalla will be scaled up or down according to sign up numbers. El Jeffe has made it clear that this is a one-time affair for D&D, so to stay cognizant of D&D's generous hospitality, this thread will serve as the sign-ups thread and the game thread. If you are interested, please read the rules below.
The Game (Phalla)
This game (Phalla) will begin on Thursday at 9pm Pacific Time or Midnight Eastern. This time will also be the nightly cut off for voting. If you would like to sign-up for this Phalla please do so by typing !Sign Up in this thread.
The mechanics of the game are simple. Each player who signs up receives a private message detailing a role they have in the Phalla. As this is a basic Phalla, the roles will be very simplified. There are two factions "The Village" or the good guys and "The Mafia" or the bad guys. Once one team has eliminated the other, the game is over and a winner is declared. All players (even the bad guys since they are hidden among the good guys) get to vote. Whoever has the most votes, at the end of each day, is killed and removed from the game. In addition the Mafia gets a certain amount of kills to help in their quest to win. Here are the roles:
Villager - This is the most common role, these players are the "good guys" and have a single vote each night. They are hunting for the mafia. They are not aware of anyone else's roles when the game begins.
Mafia - A small number of players (bad guys) who are aware of each other's roles. These players must scheme together to confuse the villagers and survive. They will kill several people each night.
Seer - A good guy who has the ability to find out a player's role each night. As he or she discovers good guys and bad guys, it is their responsibility to pave the path for the village's victory.
Vigilante - A good guy who has the ability to kill one person each night.
Guardian - A good guy who has the ability to defend one person each night from attack. He or she can defend against the mafia kills, or the vigilante, but cannot defend against the vote or defend themselves.
Please keep in mind that the search function has been removed, making it ever more difficult for me to track down specific posts, if the need should arise. So please remember, no editing or deleting posts, and be as clear as possible when casting votes. All votes need to be posted in the thread in the deadline of 9pm Pacific Time or Midnight Eastern each day. All kills, seer, and defense orders must be submitted to me (Lady Eri) by private message by the same deadline. The amount of mafia and kills will be scaled according to how many people sign up. A final tally will be posted before the game starts. You should be aware that the mafia players not only know who each other at the start of the game, but also receive the role pm for the villagers as well, to help them disguise themselves. You may share your role pms after you get them, but you will find verification hard and deceit rife. All roles will be randomized before being assigned.
To cast a vote you simply type: !vote <playername>
To remove a vote you must type: !unvote <playername>
Please unvote before casting a new vote as it will help me keep track of votes.
