I figure there'll be another catastrophic meteorite impact or world war before I'd have to worry about that
I'm genuinely surprised that this hasn't happened yet. Though, I'm anxious to see who's involved in the next (and there will be a "next"), and what it will take to end it. Last time, it was two nuclear bombs. Shit's only going to get heavier.
Personally, I'm buying some guns at soonest convenience.
I wonder how many people will be prepared to physically confront white supremacists? Because this is something that will need to happen if (once?) the situation worsens.
this is something I think about.
I am ready every day
wait, no, first I need that BMW R75 with Nazi decorations. and a blonde. then I'd be ready

hell global warming's still on track to devastate the world within thirty years, right
Actually, I heard the thinning above Antarctica has been steadily shrinking.
the way international economic ties work makes a world war immensely unlikely (everyone is codependent on each other, or at least the countries capable of having world wars) and it's the ozone hole above antarctica which is shrinking, which has basically nothing to do with global warming

look if people wanna be healthy they should just find a good job
you know whats double funny: employers are staring to do credit checks for elegbility to work now. can you even begin to imagine what the world will be like when that's the norm? ahahhsadhdsas
this... has been fairly common for years, even in low-wage positions
or at least it is fairly common practice for employers to secure a license to perform a credit check in something signed by the applicant
I've been consenting to credit checks since before I had a credit score

Drug checks and credit checks are a rarer concept over here in Blighty
I have never undergone either, although I hear MI5 etc. do it

My current employer is a branch of an English company and they didn't have any drug or credit checks for me
my boss also leaves for like two hours at a time in the middle of the day to go to the gym maybe four days out of the week
"micromanaging" is not a word in these people's vocabulary
so mark that down on the "Lobsterbacks: Pros" column
the unfun thing is that she gets demonized for murdering her young child while abortionists get off scott free? its clearly age discrimination at work here

I wonder what the world would have been like if England had given the colonies seats in parliament
i had to do three or maybe four background checks to get my current job
i work in the store room of a health care system, i pick orders and do some other stuff
i think a credit check
state and federal background check with fingerprinting
child abuse clearance
the stte and federal ones may have been separate, i don't know
it took forever to get the clearances to even be considered for the job
But if you're habitually late on paying your bills, have multiple accounts in collections, and have taken no action to rectify this, then it shows a pretty severe lack of personal responsibility
There's something deeply unpleasant about the notion of denying someone a job because they're deeply in debt
Stay there and rot in your debt, unemployed person
Combined with health insurance being tied to jobs in the first place it does, in fact, sound like something cooked up for a badly written dystopia novel

or it could be meaningless
for instance:
I was rejected for a credit card recently (I wanted 20% off at BR) and was very surprised. I have had moderately good credit despite my student loans
turns out they decided that the notice on my credit score that read "PAST DUE - 120+ DAYS" wasn't a good sign, which I totally agree with!
only, the account in question arises from a bill from a health provider, which my total joke insurance told me, specifically, on the phone, that they would cover
only after they later rejected the transaction on the grounds that they "Could not identify" me, (seriously joke insurance) they didn't notify me and the provider didn't bother to notify me that I was back on the hook.
so the payment just sat there from October 2010 until I found out about it a week ago when I went back to the doctor
so if a potential employer does a credit check on me, I really want the opportunity to at least explain why this awful black mark is on my credit score

It's in order to prove your responsibility
I've had credit checks run on me for the last 3 positions.
you don't want a dude with a criminal record for drug distribution to be the one locking up the Oxy at the end of the day
you don't want a lady who lost a 10b-5 suit that cost her employer $500,000,000 doing the strategy design for your IPO
but a credit check is probably totally unrelated to the way you will do your job
