at least Tower of Babel has a cool villain and dosen't include a drugged out Batman in a garish purple costume stumbling around like a homeless person hallucinitating nonsense.
I don't understand your problem with this
he was jumped in the Batcave, pumped full of heroin, and dumped in an alley
what else would you expect him to do in that situation

But hey if you wanna talk about a definitive run for a street level hero with a tortured past I just ordered all 3 ultimate collects of the Bendis/Maleev Daredevil, which I read in singles but now I can finally put on my bookshelf.

I was hoping the thread would be more about the 1960s Batman TV series, currently airing 1-2 times every night on The Hub. It had a lot more well-known guest stars than I originally thought it did. Last night I was watching an episode and the guest villain looked familiar. I'm thinking, "I know that guy. Who's that guy?" and then the second episode of the two-parter rolled credits and it turns out it was Art Carney. They also had episodes with Vincent Price, Milton Berle, a brief cameo by Jerry Lewis, and several other names where I had no idea they appeared in a Batman episode.
Morrison writes the best villain dialogue, and Dr. Hurt is him just turning all the valves to eleven. He's so cartoonishly evil he becomes intimidating.

yes but he is also Bruce Wayne's father and possibly also The Devil
I know this is in a comic involving a man dressed as a giant bat, but

I know this is in a comic involving a man dressed as a giant bat, but
"ok, according to this, Batman died in a helicopter crash, caused by doctor hurt, who seems to be Bruce Wayne's father, and also maybe the Devil"
everything is resolved in literally real life years later
but that issue is basically a giant clusterfuck
really because at the end I was thinking "that dude is totally insane and can't be trusted to tell the truth about anything, who knows who he really is", and I was right
plus Batman didn't die in that crash, you should read the follow-up trade Time and the Batman
Do you remember the who would win villain contest in GV?
Surely DOOM would win
Because he is DOOM
loki won
Hmmm
I guess Loki is a good enough choice
And while I love Taskmaster (and I do) he really is a villain for guys like Cap and Wolverine, he's not a Doom or a Loki or a Magneto, those guys are the real heavyweight villains.
Actually thinking about it I would have gone for Thanos but whatever.

more to the point
has batman come back yet
did he have a tearless, manly reunion with the Bat-family or any of his super friends

my problem is that situation is stupid
ceiling robin!
Seems to be exactly what a supervillain would do.
SteamID: Baroque And Roll
a terrible one maybe
which is what Dr. Hurt is
Dr. Hurt is the best.
Since ever.
He was defeated by a banana peel.
And then the actual reveal was like 20x even more ridiculous.
It was glorious.
"Will they come back, Batman?"
"Not in this dimension."
Batman running along the pier with that bomb over his head is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

did you read that article or what
because it specifically says who and what Hurt was
the issue where he actually died
and none of those issues are resolved
the one where at the end you're thinking
"ok, according to this, Batman died in a helicopter crash, caused by doctor hurt, who seems to be Bruce Wayne's father, and also maybe the Devil"
everything is resolved in literally real life years later

and his "real" identity is even dumber

because those are the issues I want to read
how is his identity any dumber than Vandal Savage or Jason Blood
He came back
It was a somewhat manly return I guess
