According to the order of actions, normal guard abilities cannot protect against the vote. That is all I will say.
The vote occurs before all other kills. Thus, there is no chance of a trickle.

See, now this type of thing is why people kill you early. This certainly sounds like something a scientist would say... but a scientist would know that and not say something so obvious... unless he were counting on us to believe that it's too obvious to be true... Nobody really knows...
