You are a crazy person. And I don't mean because you don't like the any of the post OMD stuff. You admit you haven't read them and ok that's fine, and even if you had read them you may not like some or even most or all of them. There's no story out there that everyone likes.

But the idea that there is some kind of vindictive drive to maintaining this status quo against an overwhelming tide of dissent (when really, most people got over it awhile ago) and that they are deliberately writing stories as a "fuck you" to certain segments of fandom is crazy talk. These are things a crazy person thinks.

    Don't take comics so personally.

I admit I may not have the most unbiased opinion, as my knowledge from the One Moment in Time story comes from this: http://atopfourthwall.blogspot.com/2011/01/comic-book-issues-one-moment-in-time.html

But even so, I can't help but look at that story, in which many were hoping would undo this controversial devil storyline, to further cement this as "the new status quo", whether we like it or not.

And I don't like it, not one bit. I'd sooner wish they just killed MJ off or they got a divorce or something, not this contrived series of cosmic mucking around to undo x amount of years of marriage. Just because.

It's stupid. That's basically my opinion, but man...it is stupid.

As for Spider-Girl, I'm tempted to say it "doesn't count", being an alternate timeline or whatever, but from my own preference, I would love to see Peter starting out as a dad from day one. Handling a baby, making a little spider-crib made from webbing, remembering to grab milk on the way back from patrol, things like that.

    You know, human things.

"Doesn't count" is the dumbest fucking excuse ever and I hate it so much.

You are saying one fictional universe is somehow more real than another fictional universe.

NO POINT IN READING ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, GUYS

If you want to get technical, Ultimate Spider-Man "doesn't count" either. Because what happens in one universe doesn't affect another. Unless it's...I don't know, Marvel Zombies or something.

And nowhere did I say that Spider-Girl wasn't worth reading just because it "doesn't count". I was merely stating my wish to see the concept of one alternate reality fufilled in the "main" Spider-Man reality.

    Comic books, sheesh.

Mike Carey actually managed to write a Gambit that was halfway compelling

    See

I understand the appeal of Gambit. Visually, at least.

He's a scruffy roguish type in a trench coat. That's a recognizable design right there that has been used well for decades. Now, his weapon of choice are playing cards, another stylish and neat idea. They also explode. This is awesome.

Then he opens his mouth and "MAH CHERIE LES GO EAT SOME GUMBO AHN GO GIGGIN" and oh god go away you awful awful man

Carey could write a story about a pissed soaked cardboard box and make it compelling.

In further Gambit news they are supposed to be ignoring his horseman shit.

Don't really have any stake in him but that stuff is pretty dumb.

He does a good job on Swamp People.

I don't understand how a guy with energy fists ends up with a card gimmick.

It's like if, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker said, "Fuck it, I'm calling myself Lizard Lad."

Man, I read Jack of Hearts' wiki a while back.

What a weird-ass character. Like, he's half-alien, but he also gained powers through exposure to a secret chemical, and he wears medieval armor, and for some reason he has a card theme. Also, he debuted in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu.

Like, he's the most hodge-podge character I've ever heard of.

I liked it. Although SI doesn't fully kickoff until the next issue.

The last bit with Jackal and the first born has me questioning things.

Don't read this if you don't want the issue spoiled.
Ben Reilly was the first clone and the "perfect one", and he was raging on taking them down after the the transformation, so is that Ben? We don't get to see him before the transformation but the way Jackal talks about him is pretty strong evidence to me that it is in fact Ben.

From the latest ASM. Finally got an invite to a poker game, now he can't cheat. Like dirty, dirty telepaths.

On Spider Island, I really enjoyed the opening issue.
The cops friendly banter with Spidey is great, as is his interaction with anyone at Horizon Labs. The fact they brought up the Way Of The Spider and Shang Chi back into the main storyline fills me with joy.

And I really have no idea who I would want to have been in the test tube, but please don't be Ben Reilly.

I mean, it totally is with that fucking Scarlet Spider hoodie teaser, but please let it not be. I would much rather it be Ezekiel.

also I love that Slott writes Peter and Ben like they are very old friends because they are. It is a geniune friendship as opposed to like two superheroes that team up a bunch.

Nice of them to also invite Ross to the game. I guess everyone being in costume explains why he's playing Hulked out. Well that and he probably still has that brain-melter in his skull...
