300 Part 2: Less Plot, More CGI.

I don't see how you can assert less plot based on a trailer. 300 had a pretty thin plot that was basically just an excuse to show lots of highly choreographed, slow-mo violence. And plenty of people here really enjoyed it. I'm not seeing anything in that trailer that really sets this apart substantially from 300.

I have one very important question about this movie:

does Sam Rockwell dance in it?

And at least the stuff in 300 kinda, sorta, in a way, actually happened

This movie was perfect for what it was. Perfect.

It was an enjoyable mindless summer movie that had a few laughs, a bunch of explosions and some great actors and actresses in it. Was it brilliantly done? Hell no. It's fucking called Cowboys and Aliens. It didn't need to be.

Pacing was a bit odd but at no point was I sitting in the theater wondering when this was going to end.

    Go see it!

This movie looks dumb, and the first time I saw the trailer I just thought 'fucking really?'

I mean I love cowboys and aliens as much as most people, but this just reeks of 'lol, and ninjas and pirates fight! LOL!'

If I start hearing from everyone that it really is a good movie I'll check it out, but otherwise it just doesn't look like anything worthwhile to me. I know people will say 'but it looks like a good mindless action flick with explosions!' And maybe that is true, but I think it would have to be a fantastic one for me to really not just roll my eyes out of their sockets at it.

@Druhim Mostly I'm just joking around, but I'm still fully expecting the plot in Immortals (whatever that may be) to suck horribly.

Also, I liked 300, and I'm not saying anything bad about it's story.

I still don't see how this is any more ridiculous than 300. That 300 is loosely based on history is pretty much irrelevant. There's nothing realistic about 300.

The part that made me laugh most in 300 is when Leonidas is mocking the other greeks for being boy lovers or something. The spartans were waaaay into the man love.

I can proudly say that there is no movie in history that I have watched that has been so boring it has put me to sleep.

Did you see clash of the titans. I watched that in theaters. It was either leave or fall asleep.
Also, Gus Van Sant's Last Days. So boring.

This movie looks boring. I dislike Daniel Craig for some reason. Olivia Wilde is attractive though.

I did see Clash of the Titans. In 3D. And didn't fall asleep.

the point is that 300 had a clear narrative "there are persians gonna kill us all these dudes are gonna stop them"

tell me you can get the above quoted plot, any part of it, other than one of the dudes is named theseus, from that trailer?

for reference, here is 300's trailer

is there shit in there where you're like "whoa what is going on?" sure, it's a trailer, there's no context. But you get, with no knowledge of the story previously, that it is about a smaller army fighting against a massive one, greeks vs persians, and that the greeks are the protagonists.

without reading the plot synopsis, nothing in the immortals trailer makes any sense. who's the protagonist? who's the antagonist? who's that whip guy? what is happening?

I'm not saying 300 is a bad movie, I'm saying that Immortals doesn't look any dumber than 300. It's just silly that the same people that were so vocal about how much they enjoyed 300 and that it's just a brainless but beautiful actionfest are saying Immortal looks dumb based on this trailer.

    DOES NOT COMPUTE
