Shouldn't it be 16 pools for the GH2 doubles tournament? Having the same number of pools in the singles and doubles tournaments doesn't quite match up in my head.
Oh, and another thing: Why should it matter what difficulty people choose to play on when competing vs. each other? Expert mode makes more notes available, which in turn mean more scoring opportunities. 90% on expert usually still outscores 100% on hard, doesn't it?

Your mom's in 16 pools. And it's just so I can have 32 TV's going. And aren't you running this one anyway? You little punk, get the hell off my lawn!
Exactly. 16 pools, 2 screens per pool. And while I may be running this one, it's your sticky that people are gonna refer to for rulz.
Oh, and BigRed: pfft, it's a tournament. Best guy should win regardless. I say we allow people to select whatever difficulty they're comfortable with in a match, regardless of what difficulty level their opponent is on. If the guy on the harder difficulty ends up losing because of it, then he probably wasn't good enough anyways.

Thats it punk, you be expert and ill do easy and see who will win :P
If its going to be done that way you should say it cant be more than 1 difficulty away.
Then we have a rule that takes like 40 seconds to explain completely, and the follow-up questions to clarify as well. In any case, I don't think anyone's going to be entering that tournament if they can't pull off hard mode.
In co-op you should get to pick I guess, since you can't pro faceoff anyways. In single player, pro faceoff is going to be used, so ya gotta be at least hard, although it will liekly be alot of expert anyways, beyond maybe the first round (where if I play I will iekly be eliminated).
Oh, that's it. I am camping out for the Guitar Hero singles tournament the moment I get to the convention center. I'm not even going to do anything on Friday and Saturday. Someone bring me a Slurpee every 20 minutes?
Seriously, though, I'm excited. Competition to me is like porn to... uh, me.
Ok, so a) maybe a stupid question and b) maybe someone already asked/answered this, but what are the prizes for winning a tourney? Besides the bonus EXP and the permanent increase in e-penis size.

You get a point card (like 500 points or so, no idea on amounts this year) which you go to prize redemption where there are a ton of prizes with different point values that you can spend your winnings on .

Last year, 3 out of the 4 players I played in my pool played me on Expert. This year I imagine that will be even higher.
I look forward to coming and doing what I can to help this year and entertain the lines.
I have one question: Why the decision to do GHII on 360? I imagine more players and such own the game on PS2 than 360, not to mention more players have their own controllers that they'd probably like to bring in, as they feel more comfortable playing (myself included).
Eh, you players are smart. This difficulty matching isn't nearly as large a problem as we're about to make it anyways - I trust that people will make it all work out once group play starts anyways.
Oh, and Jon - I know we went over this before but this is just to clarify for other people who have the same question. The reason we're running GH2 on the 360 is so we can run the room exclusively on 360's and GCNs. Bringing in PS2s for only one game (and two tournaments) more often than not means screwing over freeplay. This way, they're only hosed on GCN's. We usually have a billion 360's, too.
This thread is for rules, registration guidelines, updates, schedules, and questions regarding console tournaments ONLY. This thread will NOT cover console freeplay or any other events, including handheld, PC, tabletop, etc.
They are saying no. The console Tournaments will fill up on Friday. But if by some miracle they don't, then I suppose you can. Don't count on it though :P
PC tourney does their schedule differently so its still possible for people to register for something day of.
Not sure how handheld will be dealing with tourney registration.
Registration for ALL console tournaments begins on Friday, August 24th, right outside of the console tournament area.
Sign-ups for Saturday and Sunday tournaments will be limited on Friday. Unrestricted registration begins the morning of a specific event, meaning sign-ups for Sunday are also restricted through Saturday. See an individual tournament's section below for more information.
Last year you had to have your controller taped so they would know which ones were from outside. But seriously, just use the ones they have, its alot less problemtatic. Bringing your own conroller may be preferable, but a true gamer should be able to leave his element and show their prowess. Well that may be a bunch of bull. But based on the chaos I saw last year, I'm pretty sure own controllers only cause problems, because the only problem they can solve is a lack on controllers, which isn't gunna happen.
Wow, lots of good tournaments this year. Im actually thinking of doing the Guitar Hero 2 Singles, Double Dash, and Gears of War ones this year. Ill need to get some practice in.
Team Balls Of Steel is looking for a 4th player. due to lack of space in the car our 4th player could not make it.

another quick question. would it be too much of a hassle for me to bring some recording equipment for the smash tournament? I'd only record the semi-finals and/or the finals.
all I need is my laptop and this thing, both of which I already own. (this is assuming that the connections you're using for the cubes/wiis aren't component)

It's fine. Just keep track of it and make sure you don't misplace any controllers from your assigned station.
