Convention News Discussion Thread

So, I know that a lot of news is tossed out at major conventions like Wizard Worlds and the San Diego Comic Con, and that even though we have plenty of threads to discuss them in, things do get missed, and others aren't really worthy of their own thread. So, starting with Wizard World Philly, we'll have this thread to post new news (on the internet!) and discuss some of it.

This doesn't mean that discussion on some of it can't happen in their own threads (stuff like Mark Waid on Flash, for instance, is pretty big news to a lot of people), but the smaller stuff (like Angel and Penance miniseries that apply to a more selective audience) would probably fit best in this kind of thread.

So without further bullshitting:

CREATIVE TEAM CHANGES

Mark Waid to take over Flash with All Flash #1 and re-numbering
(Graphic Violence thread)

Dwayne McDuffie to replace Metzger with Justice League of America #13

Peter David on She-Hulk with #22

Terry Moore to follow McKeever with Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane relaunch

NEW SERIES

Bendis to write Ultimate Origin miniseries

J. Torres and Sanford Greene on Wonder Girl: Champion miniseries

Christos Gage and Mike Perkins on House of M: Avengers miniseries

OTHER NEWS

X-Men fall crossover name revealed to be Messiah Complex

Like I said in the previews thread, a lot of awesome news if you're a Marvel fan. I think the best bit of news for me was the House of M:Avengers mini. The premise just sounds awesome. I'm all for McDuffie on JLA and David on She-Hulk as well.

Why do you have to rain on my parade like that Keith. Fuck Winnick, ruining Green Arrow isnt enough now he has to ruin Dinah too? Especially after all the work Gail Simone put into reastabishing her as a top flight character.

So how exactly does WG deserve her own series?

Why not? It's only six issues anyways.

She hasn't been a particularly compelling character in awhile.

Well, then maybe this miniseries is just the thing to make her more...compelling.

Since she was, you know, leader of Young Justice?

All she was in Teen Titans (so far) was a love interest for Superboy and now an angsty teenager

Hopefully they can make her kickass again

From the Avengers panel at WW Philly:
Discussion of Captain America began with the blunt statement from Lazer that the Winter Soldier is now out to kill Tony Stark, whom he blames for the death of Cap. Lazer also said that Sharon Carter's arc has not yet been resolved, as she is still plagued with guilt over her actions that contributed to Cap's murder. It was also revealed that the Red Skull's daughter, Sin, will be leading an all-new Serpent Squad comprised of the Cobra, Eel, and a new Viper.
Several “New Avengers” covers were also shown, including one displaying Brian K. Vaughan's the Hood as the new Kingpin of supervillains. Bendis revealed the identities of each of the villains on the cover, including Madame Masque, The Owl, The Wizard, and Dr. Jonas Harrow.

    Also, some pretty pictures:

Teen Titans and 52 are the only books I have read her in, and I am going to buy the solo series, so I disagree with the not being a compelling character thing.

I wonder how the Wizard will affect NA, since he's part of the upcoming arc in FF.

She used to be strong and confident. She even showed Superboy that she could kick his ass

of course, then he hit her with tactile telekinesis

and then The Ray kicked Superboy's ass even more

I found her to be strong and confident during Teen Titans, well up until IC, which left her a wreck, but thats understandable in my opinion.

God, how I long for the days when Superboy wasn't just Superman Jr. Which is kind of a weird statement to make, but fuck all the x-ray/heat vision crap that replaced his powers in TT was so lame.
