"The Gang Gets Held Hostage" is probably my favorite episode of the show. I doubt they'll ever top it, but I fervently hope they will.
And yes, it's always great whenever Charlie writes something.
Dennis:"'If you vote me, I'm hot.' What?!"
The best part is that Glenn Howerton improvised that whole speech that Charlie wrote.
Oh, really? That's very interesting.
Regarding Charlie's troubles with writing, I liked that episode from last season where the Gang had to decipher the nigh-incomprehensible pictograms in his dream journal.
I remember, from an interview or the special features, that Charlie pointed something out. He's got the camera held really tight against his face and he's trying to mouth the words along with Dennis (even though he didn't actually know what he would say) just to distract himself because he's trying as hard as he can not to burst out laughing and ruin the improv speech.
Honestly I thought the last two seasons were pretty hit and miss (mostly last season, which I gave up on after the Charlie/Dee High School episodes), but it feels like they're going to try and liven it up again this year. I hope they can bring the spark back and make it last, because I was figuring this would be it for them.
i don't think this show was weak the last few seasons at all. if anything i think it is the most consistently hilarious show i've seen, and the best comedy on television for my money.
the only truly weak episode IMO was "the gang cracks the liberty bell," which i found unfunny.
i still think the episode with Sinbad and Rob Thomas in the rehab facility was one of the best. it was just so utterly bizarre to watch them. and Rob Thomas's voice when he leans in and says in a rich low voice, completely coherently and properly, "Watch your ass, new meat" when he looks completely wigged out the whole time? The contrast was just...
I remember that whole scene was so funny that I couldn't even laugh. I just sort of sat there paralyzed by overwhelming hilarity.
Yeah I think the last few seasons have been more solid, if anything. Halloween episode? Road trip episode? C'mon, these were gold! Plus they have so many more inside jokes/reoccuring characters to work with that it simply just gets better.

You know this thread really made it occur to me. All of my favorite comedy is on FX. My top three are Always Sunny, Archer and now Wilfred...damn they know good comedy.
Has anyone gotten the season 6 DVD yet? Season 7 is premiering soon, so I thought surely season 6 would be out on DVD by now, but I haven't seen it in stores anywhere.

FX shows really do tend to release right before the new season starts. Like "you would have to watch the previous season in one sitting to catch up" close.

well I was completely into the season opener
can't fucking wait. I feel like they got fairly meta with the plot which they also did with the opener of 2 years ago, adds a great layer of humor to an already funny episode.
I enjoyed it. I have to watch the season openers a second time to really enjoy them, I have too high expectations the first time around. The entire gang seems a bit darker and more depraved then ever though, which is hard for them to accomplish.

If I recall, that was actually brought up by by Dennis and Charlie in the episode.
"Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time. . ."
Excellent episode. Sadly blew ARCHER out of the water. I watch the season openings over and over, and they get better with each viewing. The blood scene didn't disturb me, nor did the end because really - what did you expect with this show. Even in it's beginning when it was testing the waters - the season finale ended with child molestation, and had Mac's ego chasing a trannie. Also, I have no doubt this series ends with the death of the characters, just like everyone expected SEINFELD to end.

DeVito was on Craig Ferguson a few nights ago promoting the show, and since he had finished shooting the season, he had cut his hair really short and dyed it (and his eyebrows) blonde.
It actually didn't look that bad, especially when compared to the craziness on the show.
Oh my god, the limo scene! One minute dating a friendly, eccentric millionaire and the next
you're running through the streets covered in diseased puke blood.
Its not often that Dee gets to be the least degraded person in an episode also.
she became a foot fetish escort. She was right there beside the hooker watching her do enough crack and booze to destroy her heart. Oh, and she did crack too.
She was right at the bottom with the rest of them.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
Oh sure, but thats not really a new low. Compared to fucking a greasy old Korean guy by a dumpster for a recipe that she didn't get in the end, thats a step up.

Maybe.

Also Dennis' particular craving was a nice callback to my all-time favorite episode.
This episode had quite a few callbacks: the crack, Jack Bauer the cat, "Donovan McNabb", Charlie being the rich Texan again from "Gas Crisis".
I was seriously expecting Charlie to
Apparently one upcoming episode is about the Gang throwing a "baby funeral".

totally saw that coming when mac asked what he really wanted. I shouted 'yes!' hahaha
devito must be ponytailing it in real life

God, I hope not. It might be better if they all go to jail for all the illegal things they've done, though.
