    Here's The Drop.
    PlayStation Network

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike — The Street Fighter series has long been the measuring stick by which other fighters are measured, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike set a new standard with its amazingly technical fighting style and bold, fluid 2D artwork. 19 determined warriors of varying styles prove their skills in combat. Each fighter has their own reasons for entering the tournament, testing their skills against the greatest martial artists the world has ever seen. Choose your favorite warrior, mastering a huge number of moves and combos. Your skills will be graded by the game’s built-in Grade Judge System, so it might be wise to enter the Practice mode or go one-on-one with a friend in Versus mode before you tackle the tournament. These fighters have developed skills so powerful, that by building up a super arts meter during the fight, they are unable to unleash devastating attacks and combos that will send opponents reeling!

Hamilton’s Great Adventure — Hamilton’s Great Adventure is a co-op puzzle adventure game from Fatshark. Take part in an amazing journey, guiding the splendiferous adventurer Ernest Hamilton and his brilliant bird Sasha as they co-operate to crack crafty conundrums and challenges! Progress through four unique and visually stunning environments. Delve into gameplay featuring both action puzzling and traditional problem solving. Immerse yourself into a fantastical storyline filled with extravagant escapades and memorable characters.

Comix Zone — A downloadable version of the 1995 Genesis/MegaDrive game. Sketch Turner is an artist in New York City. One day while Sketch is drawing, there is a huge thunderstorm and a bolt of lightning hits Sketch’s image, bringing it to life. That image is Mortus, a megalomaniac mutant who wants to become real and rule the earth. Mortus magically transports Sketch into the pages of his comic book so that he can end his creator’s life and become real. Inside the comic book, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who believes he is a superhero that came to save their post-apocalyptic world from the evil brought by Mortus’ hand. Now Sketch must save the comic book world and get back to his own…

Parasite Eve II – Three years after “the event” in New York, Aya Brea has joined the FBI to help control the threat of another mitochondria outbreak. After encountering several Neo Mitochondrial Creatures (NMCs) in a Los Angeles office building, Aya starts on an investigation into the source of the situation. She will have to travel to a variety of locations and fight dozens of NMCs that don’t want her to discover the truth behind their existence. Luckily, Aya is trained in the use of several weapons including pistols, rifles, and machine guns. But when things get a little too hairy, she can call on the power of her own mitochondria and pull off special attacks or heal wounds. Your performance throughout the game determines which of the multiple ending you will get to see. It’s up to you to try to keep the mitochondria in check with PARASITE EVE II.

Parasite Eve 2 finally. And speaking of finally...

I got an e-mail for Dead Island stuff. The draw back is you have to use home. If any one uses home and got the e-mail, please tell me how I play the survivor game? I used home and it kinda sucked.

It's a little baffling that somehow Squeenix can resecure the rights to Parasite Eve for re-releases, but didn't bother to do so for The Third Birthday.

Could've been for a number of reasons. They might've still held the rights for the first two games but not any future sequels. The writer may've been fine with re-releases but not with more sequels. Or maybe they just wanted to make sure they owned the IP this time around. Who knows. From what I've heard, Third Birthday's kinda rubbish anyway so maybe it was for the best that they didn't taint the series.

And yeah, vagrant_winds, Dead Island is coming to all three major systems. I doubt Square Enix would've bothered with it otherwise (though I guess they are only publishing it in the US).

Street Fighter 3 and Parasite Eve 2 seem to be the things to talk about this week. But R3 Beta access for PS+ members seems pretty nice since it's getting a lot more positive opinion than the previous games. From what I've heard at least (which might be wrong).

R3 beta (which is multi only) is effectively CoD style gameplay with Resistance style guns/perks/abilities. So.. if that sounds good to you, yeah, it's good.

  • Options
    Unco-ordinatedUnco-ordinated NZRegistered User regular
Sweet, can't wait to rent it out a few months after release and find its online to be completely dead because people would rather play actual CoD than its clone. R2 sold pretty well off the back of the first games success but considering how bad that game was, I expect R3 to bomb and practically kill the franchise. I just hope it won't lead to Insomniac going completely third party, as I'd still like to see them make the odd R&C (even if All 4 One doesn't seem that appealing to me).

Played a bit of the R3 beta (and by a bit, I mean like 10 minutes), did not like it at all.
I've never been a great fan of the series though, so don't take my word on it.

Is anyone else having trouble synchronizing trophies up to the PSN network servers? It seems to sync fine on the PS3 side, but they don't show up here: http://us.playstation.com/publictrophy/index.htm?onlinename=Random35

Specifically, my L. A. Noire trophies aren't showing up anywhere. I'm still getting the trophies in game, and they show up on my trophy list locally, but not on the site, which is what I read for my sig below.

Parasite Eve 2 worth getting if you enjoyed the original?

Also it's kind of weird how many great games came out in 2000. Orge Battle 64, Sin and Punishment, FF 9, Vagrant Story, and maybe Parasite Eve 2.

    I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!

So, they add Dead Space 2 to PSN Store 'bout a year after it was released and charge full price for it? Oooo-kay.

No. God no. The first Parasite Eve was a fun action-oriented kinda-sorta-JRPG. Parasite Eve 2 is a subpar Resident Evil clone.

I didn't mind Parasite Eve 2. It's definitely a Resident Evil clone though in the way you move and shoot. Rather than gaining new powers via leveling, you used your earned XP to buy powers in the 4 elements (earth, water, fire, wind) and you could further upgrade each power 2 more times to increase their effect/radius. Water was healing based, earth was support, fire and wind were typically offensive based powers.

The game also had several unlockable unique items based on your final score, which was tallied by the number of enemies you killed and the number of items you collected (includes all consumables) and what you still had in all of your inventories. You were rewarded well for killing all of enemies and using the fewest items possible. Alternatively, you could also try to speed run the game by killing the fewest enemies and gathering as few items as possible (giving you one of the best armors in the game). All of the items you unlock via your ending rank end up in "Replay Mode" (New Game +) which was an easier difficulty but the game also had harder difficulty modes to ensure there are fewer items, Aya dies quicker, and the enemies are better bullet sponges.

Honestly for $6, you could do worse than buying this game, especially if Resident Evil games are your thing. I don't remember much about the story line, other than it being as convoluted as the first, which may be a selling point for you. I'm thinking about picking it up because I never achieved the lowest OR highest rank in my playthroughs.

It may be worth mentioning that since PE2 came out after Final Fantasy 8, the unlocked weapon for getting S Rank (best) was a Gunblade. :P

Atlus don't operate in Europe, so we just have to wait until somebody else decides to pick up their games.
The UMD version of P3P has been out for a couple of months, the digital version is taking a bit longer.

Here I am, here's The Drop, blah blah.
    PlayStation Network

In addition, this new collection features online play, leaderboards, achievements and trophies. Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection marks the first time the original Mortal Kombat arcade trilogy — Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 — have been brought together in a single collection.

4 Elements HD — 4 Elements HD takes place in an ancient kingdom where evil forces have corrupted the balance between the four elements causing the altar of life to run dry. You have to unlock four ancient books of magic, collect 16 cards and restore this kingdom to life.

The Baconing (Demo Available) — A stand-alone gaming experience for fans of DeathSpank, The Baconing is about the mythology of the Bacon Fires. Players will be able to meet some old friends and new acquaintances in this new high profile comical adventure.

ClaDun X2 — Dive back into the world of ArcanusCellawith a new cast and a new adventure! Take on the role of a wandering warrior trapped in a dangerous pocket-sized world filled with more monsters, more weapons, more dungeons and more danger than ever before—and there’s only one way out. ClaDunx2 has twice the thrills, twice the spills, twice the lovable classic-nessof the first!

World Heroes — This super-charged fighting game features eight characters, including Hanzo, Janne and Rasputin, modeled on historical figures from throughout the ages. The fighters compete against each other to become the world’s toughest combatant, with players using a setup consisting of only three buttons (one each for punching, kicking and throwing). and held.

Content out of fucking nowhere! I'm pretty positive that ClaDun X2 will be on PSN (possibly -only- on PSN?) since the picture shown is like a mock-up for an XBLA game with PSP Game next to the PSN logo at the top. Also, MK Arcade Collection for those of us who haven't bought any of the games individually. (Or are willing to double-dip, I suppose.)

If anyone actually bothers to read that you'll notice that Persona 3: Portable is on the list and at a (slightly) reduced price.
So that's good if you've been waiting for the digital version.

That is... Really unappealing. Persona 3's the only one I'd really want from there but seeing as I own both P3 and FES, I'm willing to wait for a better price drop. Otherwise, I'd be interested in one or two of the Warriors games except the PSP versions all had their bloody maps split into pieces. So yeah, meh, next thing I buy from the PSN will probably be RE4 HD in two weeks (with RECVX HD coming the week afterwards).

So I've been playing Quest For Booty that I got for the Welcome Back sale.

I just beat this part I kept dying on, but people sure like to hang out in caves in this game.
