edited July 2006 in PAX Archive
Post something you'd like to see or try to hopefully have present at PAX. I'll edit this post as more suggestions are made.

::FPS::
Battlefield 2 (hopefully a demo of 2140 will be out by PAX as well)
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
CS:Source
DoD Source
Dystopia
Call of Duty 2
Tribes/Tribes 2

::RTS::
Dawn of War/Dawn of War Winter Assault
Homeworld 2
C&C Generals Zero Hour
Starcraft
Warcraft 3
Empire Earth 2
Total Annhilation

::Misc::
Gmod Server

EDIT: Divided games up by genre, and added more. Also bumping because I want more suggestions, and hopefully give people a heads-up on what some of us are looking for. Also fixed the wrong headings.

    I didn't get a chance to sign up in time, but I have to recommend Dawn of War for a large LAN like this.

    So much fun.

    GalCiv2 is a pretty crummy lan game [which is to say, if there's any confusion, there's no multiplayer...at all]. As much as I love Civ4, that's not a real good lan game either. God knows how many multiplayer hours I've put into that game, though, but it's too difficult to concentrate at a lan.

    CSS is a no-brainer, Dawn of War will definitely get some love, Battlefield 2 will definitely be a big game, and there's some other good ideas here too. Keep these games coming, we'll be using this forum as a tool to determine Games of the Hour (which won't actually be every hour, but it sounds better than "Games of the Block of Time Loosely Resembling 3 Hours".

    Warcraft/Starcraft is always popular, and fucking everybody has at least one of those two games.

    We need a gigantic Gmod build server, to make a hugeass castle over the course of the expo. Also, you can go and physically beat the dickwad who goes around with the remover gun killing other people's stuff.

    Agreed, good idea. Except for the physically beating people up, part. *erm*

    I'll make sure we've got a Garry's Mod server up.

    I feel compelled to stump for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

    And if a demo of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is available, so much the better.

    And how about some Ye Olde Tribes or Tribes II? The games are free, so everybody in attendence can have a copy, and Garage Games is hosting a booth, so that would be a nice nod toward their effort to keep those games alive.

    Yeah I had totally forgot about DoW, but that'll definately be a fun game to play.

    Tribes is a good choice as well as wolfenstein. Anyone bringing a pc should be able to play those. Otherwise leave your Amiga at home.

    And yes I admit galactic civ2 and civ4 are....not the best ideas for a lan. I don't care for civ4, and both of them are very slow...mostly I listed them because I have them, though I'd much rather play action during the con.

    Keep mentioning other games, it'll be somewhat helpful to have an idea of what to install and patch up before going (main reason why I made this thread), since it'll save a fair amount of time once everyones in the main room.

    I've never really understood that game. It's constantly listed towards the top of the Most Played Game lists, yet I'm honestly not sure I know a single human being that plays it. I've never really understood how that works.

    If we have people here who play it, and would like to see it honored at PAX with a lump of time all to itself, please let these people speak in a manner upon which your humble servants can hear you.
    And if a demo of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is available, so much the better.
    Absolutely. The same is true for UT2007.
    And how about some Ye Olde Tribes or Tribes II?
    This idea is so genius, so brilliant, I believe it has made the entire Intertron better. The blogs may very well suddenly be more insightful and free of drama. The downloads may very well pipe through with an extra bit (pun only kind of intentional) of zeal. The porn may very well look all the more luscious and full of color. And on the off chance that there's something else on the Intertron, I bet that's better too.

    Let there be a Retro-Hour, and in this Retro-Hour, let there be Tribes.

    the Civ series is bad for LAN play, even more so because PAX is a LAN Party and more. (in four hours at PAX you can play on the LAN, goto a pannel, checkout the expo floor, goto another pannel, get some shwag, and still have plenty of time for DDR... or you could play half a game of Civ4) :-]

    We'll definately see some of the usual suspects: CSS, DODS, BF2, COD2, UT2k4; but I'm hoping we switch it up and get some really fun gems in there too. DeathBall, the Hidden, Dystopia, Carball. And frick'n Tribes/Tribes2. Ugh, I just wet my pants! ;D

    Oh... and for old skool FPS action QuakeWorld and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. :twisted:

    Any last requests for games of the hour?

    Everyone who signed up for BYOC can expect an email sometime in the next week or so which will contain a wealth of information regarding tournaments, contact information, scheduled games of the hour, random prize give-a-ways, and more.

    As long as you've got Garry's Mod on the list, I'm happy.

    Garry's Mod won't be a certified "Game of the Hour", however there will be a server running it for the entire event. Hopefully that will suffice.
