I'm hoping the rest of the season is just as crazy as these first two episodes have been. The (homeless guy) sex, drugs, and violence (Dee's braid getting torn off was cringe worthy) have really ramped up. Also, Rum Ham should become a new recurring character.

I felt really bad for Charlie at the end, although he seemed happy just to have spent one night with the Waitress (I wonder if he even knows her name? No one else does, and he always refers to her as the Waitress.).

Speaking of Charlie, how uneducated is he, exactly? He went to school, right? How can he not be sure what the fucking OCEAN is? Does he even know the Earth is round?

Frank: "What's that sign say over there? Toxic spill?"
Mac: "Just ignore it, Frank. It's liberal propaganda."

Frank: "Where's Rum Ham? Rum Ham! RUM HAM! I'M SORRY!"

is there even such a thing?

I thought all rum hams were cooked with rum, thus losing the alcohol.

I think he's saying that he soaked it in overproof rum. Or something. Does it really matter? It's fucking hilarious.

Also, I've said this before, but I enjoy how Sunny has transitioned from a show that relied on big huge gags to being a nuanced and consistently enjoyable show from beginning to end.

Because, really, how could you top a gag like the end of nightman?

    Yep.

If you don't start ranking them right at the beginning it can get cumbersome towards the end of the season.

As a Philadelphian who's always been mystified by Philadelphia's obsession with the Jersey Shore (seriously, even wealthy Philly people will just 'rent a beach house down da shore' for the summer instead of going to Europe or something. They've been there EVERY SUMMER OF THEIR ENTIRE LIFE and still talk about it like it's exotic) this was so good. It resonated on every level.

And Charlie's TARNATION YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL in the first episode made me spittake.

I watched the extended version of Lethal Weapon 5 that's included on the Season 6 DVD last night. It was already hilarious, but then I watched the commentary by Mac, Dennis, and Charlie, and now I want every show to have in-character episode commentaries.

Here's some highlights from the Lethal Weapon 5 commentary.

*moving aerial shots of Los Angeles*
Charlie: "How'd you get those buildings to move around like that?"
Dennis: "They're not moving; the camera is. Me and Mac flew down to LA and rented a helicopter to shoot some footage."
    Mac: "No we didn't..."
Dennis: "It was pretty expensive to get down there and rent a helicopter, but it was worth it because these shots came out great."
Mac: "We stole this off Youtube..."

*establishing shot of the "police station", which is just Paddy's Pub with a different sign*
Charlie: "Now where's this shot at?"
    Mac: "That's Paddy's."
    Charlie: "What? No way!"

*street-level footage of Murtaugh (Dennis) and Riggs (Mac) driving a car*
Dennis: "We shot this from a helicopter, too. They almost didn't let us fly that low."

*establishing shot of the "Indian casino", which is also just Paddy's with a different sign*
    Charlie: "Okay, now where's this?"
Mac: "The bar you've worked at for 10 years."

The normal commentary was pretty entertaining, too, especially the one from "Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats."

Charlie Day: "PETA actually came to see us after this episode. They said 'Hey, yeah, we're fans of the show, but, uh, could you not encourage people to bash rats with sticks?' I was like, 'Yeah, I hear ya. Now, what exactly is it you like about rats?'"

I'm reading an interview with Rob McElhenney on the AV Club, and I just found out that he initially proposed for everybody to gain weight for season 7 instead of just him (everyone else refused).

Well, it looks like there's a good chance the Gang is going to end up dead when the series ends (and honestly, I don't know how I'll feel about that if it does happen).
AVC: Is the whole thing with Charlie and The Waitress making fun of the romantic arc?

RM: Yes, essentially it’s that he’s never going to get the girl. Ever. It’s not the Ross and Rachel relationship, where each week you’re sort of dangling a carrot on a stick. You just know that he’s never going to get her. It’s just kind of funny to watch him try, and you know he’s gonna fail. In the same way, you know that the characters are never going to succeed They’re never going to succeed, ever, and it’s not a secret. I’m not giving anything away. Their actions will lead to their own demise in the end.

AVC: So there’s never going to be a final episode where somebody wins the lottery or something like that?

RM: It’s just never gonna happen, and that’s not giving anything away. I mean, it’s like watching Titanic. You know the ship’s going down. You know the ship is going down at the end, and yet, you’re still interested to watch what’s happening.

AVC: And because of the way the show is, you don’t need to have a specific endpoint.

RM: Yeah, it’s just going to end at a certain point. It’s just going to come to a collapse. And I think everybody knows that it’s not going to end well. It can’t.

AVC: One or more of them will probably end up dead at some point?

RM: Well, I mean, you know. I don’t want to confirm or deny, but I don’t see how this world could possibly end well for them.

"Demise" could mean more than just death. I mean, they could just as easily end up in prison or whatever. I think they're awful enough characters that ending up dead might not be the worst possible outcome.

Charlie Day was fantastic in Horrible Bosses.

That movie was actually way better than I thought it would be, mainly due to the trio's chemistry.
