I made some pretty good pork roast with potatoes and carrots in the crock pot a couple weeks ago.

Which, admittedly, is not rocket science, but damn it tasted great.

y'know I only recently learned how awesome grilled corn is, why has that taken me this long

I learned about it in college.

Nah, if you just bring up the heat slowly and keep your attention on them, they'll be fine.

I've done this in stainless steel and it didn't end well

which means cast iron would be even worse

I bet nonstick would be alright though

like, a nonstick electric skillet would be good

I got through my final weeks of chemo by cooking meal after meal. Threw 90% of it out.

nobody was here to eat it.

I actually do mine in cast iron.

    no oil.

just keep the heat med-low and stir constantly. Of course my cast iron has 20+ years of seasoning.

Pork chops turned out very well tonight. Put some brown sugar and soy sauce on them before I broiled. It tasted good, but there wasn't a ton of flavor from it. Maybe need to use more next time. Or marinade, if I remember far enough ahead to do so. But the pork itself had fantastic taste. Tender and juicy while still being plenty done. I think I like pork more than beef.

I really like this recipe for pork chops, minus the mango mojo which usagi and I feel doesn't really add much to the pork chops. The rub is totally delicious though.

Not fancy, but after 2 years in Korea and too many drunk nights out in the 'ville', I'm partial to Chicken Cheese Ramen... take ramen, throw in some chicken, a few slices of American cheese and you're golden. Of course liberal use of Beer and Soju before helps. Also, adding some Tabasco and an egg is good too.

I would respectfully disagree. If you're boiling the shit out of them so they're much and discoloured then yeah, but a quick blanche on carrots, beans, brussel sprouts and the like are just fantastic. Bright, colourful and crisp yum!

boiling veggies is not the way to do it

you roast it for maximum flavor and sweetness

or in the case of carrots, maybe cook them with some chicken stock or something so they get plump and juicy

    I

    love

    vegetables

there are limits to roasting of course

some times you want to saute that stuff (cabbage!)

boiling is acceptable only when other techniques make no sense

but if you can roast it

    do it

    The ramen, not the soju.

Soju is actually quite nice at offsetting salty meats.

Man, that's not a sale at all. That's more expensive than standard price. I see them regularly for .15 a package or less. A sale is when they're 10 for a buck.

Also, boiled cabbage is pretty tasty.

I usually throw some chicken stock and white wine in a pan, bring to the boil and chuck the cabbage in that with some roughly cut bacon.

So a year or so ago, there was a massive cyclone which wiped out 75 percent of Australia's banana stock.

It was a sad day for all. And since then, Bananas have been retardedly expensive. Like 7 times what they usually cost. So nobody's been eating bananas.

But now they're coming back! The farms that had their crops ruined replanted and now the new crop is ready for sale!

I'm going to celebrate by doing this

Only, you know, with bananas instead of figs.

Enjoy them while they last! Cause, y'know. Banana blight.
