Are the stories in this line of books worth reading or are they just second-rate backup stories that never saw the light of day?

They're not back-up stories, they're all-ages titles with very little in the way of weighty continuity to get in the way of things and no violence or themes you'd feel bad about showing a kid. They're often funnier and easier to enjoy than the mainstream books. Also, they sometimes remind me of why I like super-hero comics more than 95% of the 616 titles I'm currently buying.

The recent Avengers one had Ego drop by Earth and attempt to seduce it ("Who is that fine blue number three over there sporting the ice caps?"). The Avengers attempt to get his attention by hitting him and shoutings things like "Earth just want to be friends!" (Hulk's in it, you see).

See: you're smiling just thinking about it.

Yeah, I must've missed that one.

I didn't think Marvel Adventures Avengers was that great, but I think I only read like the first six issues or so.

Holy crap. That's the best thing ever. Funny-books are something that need to come back in strength.

I remember the previews for that, I guess I must have skipped it. I might have to look some of those over.

The current Spider-Man and Fantastic Four book is also pretty damn good. It's just fun super-heroics with none of the garbage that's currently clogging up so much of the current Marvel Universe.

I really enjoy Marvel Adventures Avengers because it actually has the Avengers working as a team, and not bickering amongst each other.

Also, MA Spider-man is a good read as well. I mean, he went against Fin Fang Foom a couple issues back!
