Psych is a show following the exploits of Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster, as they solve murders using Shawn's fake psychic powers. If you've ever seen The Mentalist, it's a virtual carbon copy.
Shawn has an eidetic memory and excellent deductive skills, which he uses to convince others of his psychic abilities. Gus plays the straight man and steadfast pal to Shawn, even if he is often reluctant to participate. Together they formed a private psychic detective agency called Psych(as in "gotcha") and solve crimes, much to the chagrin of the Santa Barbera Police Department.
This is the SBPD. Detective Juliet O'Hara, Shawn's main squeeze and level-headed counterpart to her partner, Detective Carlton Lassiter. Lassie spends his days trying to be the best detective ever, but nearly always failing to beat Shawn to the punch. Chief Karen Vick is their boss, who recognizes Shawn's value, but has low tolerance for his shenanigans.
This is Shawn's dad, Henry. Former detective, Henry schooled Shawn from an early age to use his gift and is often disappointed in the direction his life has taken.
Psych starts its sixth season tonight at 10pm on USA. Don't be an incorrigible Eskimo pie with a caramel ribbon and miss it.
