Pablo the PenguinPablo the Penguin Registered User regular
Recently, I've been having trouble downloading anything off of the internet. When I try download something, instead of it being a zip folder, my computer tries to open it with Adobe reader, and then says it can't, leaving me with nothing. Any advice?

Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs > Change .zip to your unzipping program

    or

Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program > Change .zip to your unzipping program

I have no idea what my unzipping program is, or where to find it.

Are you running Vista 64 bit? I found this: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/65254-zip-file-support-restore.html

That said, something screwed up the association of zip files. You could try a repair install of your OS, or a complete wipe and reinstall.

Yes, just install 7-zip and it should grab all the file associations itself.
