So there was this movie called Alien, you may have heard of it
Then there was this movie originally conceived as a direct prequel to the story of Alien, but over time the story evolved and changed and no longer directly leads into that movie
But despite various filmmakers' comments that it "shares some DNA" with Alien or that it's about 5 percent a prequel or something, we know that it takes place in the same universe and before the events of the main series, and honestly I think that's enough to call it a prequel in the commonly accepted sense of the term
ANYWAY
Not much is actually known about it but it has Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba and Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce, and that trailer looks pretty nifty
although man they all better make out for a bit before they get chestplosions
The early draft apparently was way more making out (and further) than chestsplosions. I mean, if what I read about the leaked script was true.
Seemed legit.
I don't know if you're joking about a leaked script or not, but if you actually did read one, please do not make any further comment on the ratio or general proportion of chestbursting in the film.
It's cool man, this deserves its own thread. And yeah, I get what Annie means now. I was remembering the space jockey in Alien as being a statue, but it was actually a corpse. So we have seen them before.
If I had to venture a guess based entirely on the trailer, maybe an earlier form of the xenomorph. An even less organic one based on the shots starting around 28 seconds. Though that might just be a visual echo of the original movie.
@Grey Ghost did you research this at all before your OP?
There's a LOT more information known than you're posting.
It isn't 5% prequel, it IS a prequel and is set ~30 years before Ellen Ripley and the Nostromo's journey in Alien.
Scott himself has been continually coy about actually calling it a prequel, and other members of the production have varied on how much they think it's a prequel
And I did say that we can pretty safely consider it one based on the conditions of 1) shared universe and 2) taking place before
Also that ship is definately the space jockey ship, which is falling to its side, a position its on in Alien 1. I mean saving some whacky time travel or parallel universey stuff it seams pretty clearly to be the same ship, and to have either just crashed, or crashed on its top ages back, then fallen on its side in Prometheus.

Well, there's at least one of the same aliens, since there's that space jockey room.

Why I fear the ocean.
I thought it was heavily implied in the earlier films that the "space jockey" race is different from the aliens we see.
Missed that
e probably because I didn't have a fucking clue what a space jockey was

Right. "one of the same aliens" should read "one of the same alien species." Not same aliens as in the titular type.
also Noomi Rapace
Projected gross: $everything. (USD)
I'm more of a naked-turkish-get-ups man
telling you guys what kind of man I am itt
Space Jockeys but no Xenomorphs.
Or has Ridley just been hush about the subject
Also Elysium, from the District 9 guy, since I loved District 9.
Which is mostly a good thing.
