Not sure where my copy is after the move - if I can track it down this weekend, I'll bring it, but just in case - if anyone else has Risk, can you bring it along?
Never mind - found it. I'll bring it along on Tuesday.
Khadour on

Is Risk not hardcore enough to be played at gaming night?
Eric actually mentioned to me that he'd like if someone had Risk.
It was mentioned last time and for some reason it stuck with me as a great change of pace from the usual. I haven't played Risk in many years though... Just getting that disclaimer out there right now. :P
Right now, the box 'o fun includes Ticket To Ride, 7 Wonders (and Leaders), Puerto Rico, Risk, Cards Against Humanity (and expansion), Kingdoms, Munchkin, Munchkin Zombies, Zombie Dice, and Stone Age. If anyone has any other requests, let me know - I'll be swinging by the house on my way down tonight, so I can pick up whatever else people want . . .

I've got : Ticket To Ride (USA), Settlers, Bohnanza, Citadels, Pandemic, and probably a couple others I can't remember at the moment. And Giga's zombie-die.

Great crowd tonight - was awesome seeing some new faces out tonight, and old faces that I haven't seen since last year. As PAX East gets closer, people are coming back to the fold. Don't forget - twofer next month, with the 2nd Annual Pre-Pre-PAX Gaming & Booze night on April 3rd!

Just found out that I'm going to be going to a conference in Vegas the last week of the month, so I won't be able to make it to the March meet up. Of course, I'll be back in time for the pre-pre-PAX gaming night the following week. This means that the box 'o games won't be making it, unless someone wants to grab it from me before then and haul it down there themselves. . .

Just a reminder - this is tomorrow night! Unfortunately, I won't be making it this month, so if some of the other regulars could bring down a few games, that would probably make life easier for everyone!

Someone encouraged me to go to this, being as prior to PAX I had gamed with no one other than my girlfriend since I moved to Boston (this after at least one weekly tabletop night every week for almost a decade), and had more-or-less given up meeting/finding anyone I be able to play with. Even discovering new games is a little more difficult when you don't have anyone to introduce you to them!
Going to have to double-check my availability but I'm hoping to be there for the next one.

Next one is this coming Tuesday! Come one down - we're a friendly lot! That being said, if you're a hardcore boardgamer (i.e. if you played boardgames at least one night a week for 10+ years ), this is mostly light- to mid-weight games - Ticket To Ride, Stone Age, Carcassone, Dominion, Puerto Rico, Cards Against Humanity, Zombie Dice, Settlers, etc. Good beer and pub food games. We do have some harder-core boardgamers who would be more than willing to play more involved games if that's your thing, along with a few of the specialist classes (Magic, Warmahordes, 40K, etc.) if those fit your interests - just let us know . . .
Also, if you follow the link in the OP to the Facebook event, you'll see that it's part of a group called Boston Area PAXers. I tend to post this to both the PA forums and the FB group. There are lots of gamers in the FB group if you're looking for some local games. I believe Reddit also has a Boston area boardgamer subreddit - Arson probably has more info on that than I do. There are plenty of resources for local gaming if you're interested!

See, that's perfect, since I tended to lean more towards the bevvy of tabletop RPGs and a mid-to-heavy smattering of board games, girlfriend has only recently come out of her shell and expanded past the classic games, so this sounds like the right crowd for us as I'm a bit rusty and she'd be just learning a lot of games.
... well, other than Magic. In the time since PAX she's probably played upward of 90 hours of MTG, either with me using random decks or on Duels2012. She actually beats me now, it's amazing and mortifying at the same time.
I'll have us both hop over to the Facebook event to RSVP for it (she doesn't use forums, really) and hopefully we'll see you there!

Sounds good - I usually put out a call for any game requests the day before, so I can make sure to bring down what people want to play. Just let me know what you're interested in, and I'll make sure someone brings it!

I want to try this out but doesn't it take hours to play? and a lot of room?
I love Risk.

(Sorry, someone had to say it.)
It doesn't matter what territories im actually in control of come Tuesday's game of Risk, I WILL talk just like that!
I own it and have never played it, but my friends suck with doing stuff even more than I do.
