Nine Hulk specific issues! I think that beats the five or six Deadpool had at the height of his popularity a year or two back. Best cover? FF #18.

Way to spoil Age of Apocalypse solicit writer.

I really like Samnee's art, but I don't think he's a good choice for Daredevil. And I thought Casselli would be drawing ends of the Earth completely, as he's had lots of time off to get ready for it. And that goes to a bigger thing I'm wondering about Marvel now, it's like what DC is doing and just throwing out artists on books just to get them on the shelves, with no real pattern to what they're doing. Instead of maybe having two artists rotating arcs it's an artist here, an artists there, then that artist moves over to another Avengers book for no rhyme or reason (Guedes moving to Secret Avengers). Without too much extra effort they can plan ahead and have their cake and eat it too.

It's been known for a while that Casselli would not be drawing parts 3 and 4 of ends of the earth, (they haven't announced who is though yet)

    "Ride or Die?" asked Goku

"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

Iron Fist involved prominently in the A v X deal?

Alright, so I started reading comics back In September when the new 52 launched. Big Dc fan, watched all the cartoons, etc etc. If I want to start reading some Marvel stuff, is this Avengers Assemble whatsidoodle where I want to be? It sounds like it.

If you're not familiar with Marvel at all it's a pretty good starting point, yep. Also GET DAREDEVIL. Go to your shop, get whatever issues they have.

Yeah Avengers Assemble is a perfect starting point for you. Relatively continuity friendly and that's a good thing when it comes to Bendis stuff. Hell I'd also recommend Avengers vs. X-men as well. But really the Marvel books you want to get are Avengers Assembled, Daredevil, Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine and the X-men, and Fantastic Four to name a few.

As much as I am enjoying FF I am not sure I would recommend it to someone new. If you're really new to Marvel stuff, part of the fun is Hickman rearranging and playing with old standards, and that would be lost. And then things have really kicked into high gear after #600, which is cool for us, but would seem downright byzantine to a new reader. (Eleven minutes being done in FF but playing out in Fantastic Four, everything in Attilan, etc.)

Yeah that's a good point. The 4 volumes of Fantastic Four Hickman wrote before the "FF" change over is required reading. The first 2 FF volumes (issues 1-11) wouldn't hurt either before getting into issue 600.

It's...so good. And this is coming from a person who had zero interest in the Fantastic Four in general prior to reading it.

Mark Waid is so over-represented on my trade shelf. I am starting to feel bad about it. Need to diversify. When I picked up one of his books I actually didn't really like (JLA: Year One) it was almost a kind of relief.

    JMS run is good, too.

Watch Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes for a decent introduction to the Marvel universe.

I'd like to think that issue has Iron Phoenix punching Cyclops repeatedly in the face.

  • SolarSolar Registered User regular
    Yeah me too

Though to be honest what I want to see is Iron Phoenix just wreck some fools in general. They can be anyone, really, so long as Iron Fist is a badass when he does it.

Iron Fist vs Cyclops' punchblasts, resulting in the ultimate brofist, and ending AvX.

Lack of actual Dodson art in Defenders after issue #3 is what's stopping me from continuing the book, as I have more attachment to the art than the characters.

Full May solicits in one spot. Stuart Immonen drawing Avenging Spider-Man is good, Kathryn Immonen writing it is bad.

And it seems Samnee is the new rotating artist on Daredevil now with Rivera, lets see if that means more than one arc this time.
