thats all i needed to see, if the physics is that abysmal that you can fail such a simple thing as jumping right
I'm chalking that one up to the guy playing it. He's clearly very bad at the game.
Its not that the physics suck. You can tell by such things as the backwards running out of the loop that it at least isn't a direct GBA physics rip again.
He's just bad. He keeps air dashing into the wall.

Yeah I'm not gonna bash the physics yet. The guy playing was clearly terrible.
"Sonic's not completely waterproof! I'd better get out of here real quick!"
or you could just grab an air bubble. Which were right there
Yeah, it seemed pretty clear the guy kept using the homing attack to try getting over there, rather than being competent. Remember, any time someone shows off a gameplay demo, they're required to be incapable of playing the game.
I like how it looks, and the gameplay seems a bit closer to Generations (in my opinion the best 2d Sonic gameplay around) than to 4's terrible physics. But it still seems kinda strange to me. I'll keep an eye on it.
I think we can all agree that the lack of Mystic Cave - in music form if not in level form - is a shame and should be remedied with DLC.
I am also apparently a heathen, but I've always disliked Chemical Plant zone, so I am disappointed that that's what they picked for Generations. But Sky Sanctuary makes even less sense since it is a short, easy level in S&K/S3&K. There's a real lack of industrial/factory levels (Springyard, Scrap Brain, Oil Ocean, Metropolis, Flying Battery, Doomsday, Wacky Workbench, Collision Chaos, etc.). The closest we get is the 2nd half of Planet Wisp and - as good as Planet Wisp looks - it is the most boring level in the game (aside from the final boss).
But then there are 3 or 4 city or city-like levels (even if one of them happens to be on fire).
This lack of DLC is disheartening. Take my money, Sega!
lava reef act 2 in generations would be the best thing
I would think they'd do the same mix from Generations where elements from both/all acts are implemented. And that would be great for Lava Reef because you have the bright lava cauldron of act 1 followed by the cold, dark interior of act 2.
Yeah, like, where is it? Why is there no proper DLC? It makes no sense.
This is Sega we're talking about. They didn't even try to make a Wii version of this game, even though Wii versions of Sonic games sell far, far better than the other platforms.
At first I thought that maybe Sega didn't think it was worth the effort, because Sonic stages are essentially miles long and could take quite a bit of work that may not pay off in the end if it doesn't sell.
Then I found out they released a ton of DLC stages for Sonic Unleashed.
So now I can only assume they aren't doing any because they're saving them for a Sonic Generations 2 or whatever, or they are going to do them but it's a little down the road and they want Sonic 4 Ep2 to have the lime light first.
I want to know why they never patched this more. My massive friends list still causes the game to choke and die doing online stuff. I'm not going to prune my steam list just for this game though. Sadness.

The Sonic Unleashed DLC was extra acts for stages that were already in the game so most of the assets were already created. They just had to assemble the levels in an editor.

Plus, I'm pretty sure I can never 100% the game, because Rouge causes it to crash without fail.

It seems the homing attack and Rouge's power both do something that has a chance of causing the game to crash. If you only destroy the bare minimum of enemies, and only boost into the ones you have to kill, then there's a much lower chance of a crash. That's how I got through it.

I personally hope they drop this episode silliness and bundle the full game into one disc.
Sonic 4: Episode 2 could be the last in the series, it has been revealed.
Producer Takashi Iizuka said Sonic Team has no plans to release more episodes in the future.
"We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode," he told Digital Spy.
Iizuka added: "We just want to see how the users accept this episode."

I've tried to keep my expectations low for Episode 2, but it certainly looks better than Sonic 4, and that's all I could really expect, I guess. :P

Hmm, I found it harder than the console version, myself.

Well, I guess the difficulty is subjective.

...isn't a real stage....

Still, new Acts/Missions would be fairly acceptable for Generations.

I'd have to go back to my review or replay it, but I think part of it was that lives came far, far more rarely in the 3DS game.
In other news... Sonic 4 site update.

It's pretty much confirmed in Metal Sonic's Bio.

As long as we're hoping for stuff I'd like that one disc to have episode one with the fixed physics from ep 2. Er, assuming the physics are fixed.
