I just finished an Oreo cookies and cream ice cream a bit ago. Just gotta fit this kind of stuff in there so you don't go all out and ruin your diet in one day.

And how can you be plateauing when you lost -3 and -4 in consecutive weeks? Plateauing is staying the same and not losing or losing minimal.

that's off the starting weight, so basically 1 lb lost in the week, and even then, still above where I was a few weeks ago. Maybe I'm doing the graph wrong...

Is the Fitocracy panel where a meet-up is planned? If so, I would consider skipping the first PA Q&A panel.

I won't be skipping PA Q&A for a Fitocracy panel, I love you all but I'm not too interested in the panel.

Yeah, the fitocracy panel is kind of in a badly situated time. Normally Omegas get front row seats to the keynote and the subsequent q&a as well (notwithstanding Round 1 starting during the Q&A), so not gonna pass that one up.

Hmmm. Turns out scheduling more things to do at PAX is a little tough.

Mission accomplished. Have lost 30 pounds since January, and hit my "Lose 30 lbs by PAX" goal I set for myself (which I thought I would have no shot at doing).

I'd like to think a large part of that motivation came from this group, and Fitocracy... so thank you (and my family thanks you for a healthier hubby/daddy :) ) .. time to plod on to my "Lose 50 lbs by year end" goal.. maybe I can knock that out by summer :)

  • RealGoneRealGone BostonRegistered User regular
I appear to be plateauing slightly. Down 1.4 pounds this week when I've been consistently losing 4-6 a week since I started.

Still hoping I can hit 260-265 by PAX, which would mean losing another 10-15 pounds in the next four weeks. I think it's probably doable.

I need to go back and log my workouts for the week in Fitocracy. It's like homework.

Fuck my life. Gained weight (1lb) for the first time this year while on Weight Watchers. Any words of inspiration?

I think it is time to break out DDR to go along with the hockey I play. This is unacceptable.

hate when that happens, but just ride it out. Might be a fluke, but DDR will surely help kick it.

Yea, I am going to be a little more strict with what I am eating. Floor hockey 1-2 times a week, Ice hockey once a week, and hopefully starting to DDR in between will get things kicked back into gear.

My word of advice is to cut from your mind that you're going to lose weight every single week. It's just not going to work that way. Your body can just stop losing or gain a bit for a week or two because it's in panic mode due to losing a lot of weight so fast.

Yes, gain weeks suck, but you'll go down again eventually. Just wait until you hit your first 3, 4, 5, or more week plateau, that's when it gets hard.

this, this, 1000 times this. I have had plateaus as long as 10 weeks before, and yes it sucks, but if you stick with it and make incremental changes you will eventually find something that bumps you back into the fast lane. it's giving up because of your plateau that is the killer. it's frustrating to think "i'm doing everything perfectly and not losing" but you have to remember that you would be doing a LOT worse if you weren't working as hard as you are.

I didn't get to weigh in this week, had some friends in from out of town, but will check in over the weekend.

also, vttym - congratulations on your success! this group has definitely kept me motivated too! :)

Oh God. Multiple week plateaus?! :-\

I went 2 months with straight out losing weight every week (between 1-3.6lbs each time). I feel like the gain was my fault really. While I do eat Weight Watchers food, we have friggin WW chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, carrot cake pieces, ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, fudge pops.....Oiy. Just listing those out makes my head hurt now. I am giving all of that to my sister/brother-in-law. I think eating too much of that (even though they are like 1-4 points) killed me.

I am working on staying BELOW my daily point total for WW. I was starting to use my weekly allowance and earned points from exercise TOO much. If I don't go back to losing anything at all this week, I will start DDR/P90X. In the mean time, I will be lazy and hope things change with the food changes I make (plus hockey 3 times a week).

Any local Bostonians have any suggestions for good places to jog that might be close to or originating from the Westin? Would prefer anything interesting, green, and/or with water. if the weather is gross, then no big, but not sure how crowded the gym will be. I saw they offer running maps (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/features/fas_detail.html?propertyID=1528&fasXRefId=1005707179) but would love thoughts from locals.

    @redfield85 rooting for you!

@ishtra Depends how far you want to go. I'd say head south into Southie and go along the beach (or to Castle Island and around the causway, which is one giant circle) or north into downtown and along the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. I'm not a runner so I can't really suggest which is better, but I'd guess the Greenway. You might find the Harborwalk site to be useful.

A few days after hitting 220, I bubbled up to 222. Not a big deal, as I fully expect to be back on track by the end of this week, and still have an overall loss week over week. Sporadic gym visits the last 2 weeks didn't help the cause.

I crushed the 5k this weekend, finishing in 27:54, which was over 2 minutes better than what I was doing in the gym (and included a ridiculous .5 mile hill in the middle). So regardless of the weight, I'm a happy camper.

So as it turns out I had a gain last week, so I had to spend all of this week fighting to get back the ground I had lost. Almost made it. .2 up from two weeks ago. But sometimes that's how weight loss goes. Two steps forward, one step back. Just gotta keep on truckin.
    Week 1, 2/07/12: Weight 197 (+/- 0 lbs, +/- 0%)

Just a thought:: Let's not lose steam here! We had lots of activity and support going a few weeks ago -- now as PAX draws close, it's getting quiet. It's tough to keep that motivation going, but don't lose sight of the goal - improving you. Getting fit isn't always hitting a number. I remember celebrating the fact that I could run up a flight of stairs once I had quit smoking without getting out of breath.

So don't get discouraged if you didn't drop as much as you wanted to so far. Haven't been as committed as you wanted? There's still time to change that, and feel good about yourself, even if you miss the goal you set for PAX. If getting fit was easy, we'd all look like Adonis.

Let's keep the positive energy going - get out there and make yourself awesomer.

So, my scale says I lost 5lbs. From 238.2 to 233.2. After drinking a bit on Saturday, Sunday, and a beer dinner last night....can this be right?! I checked it about 10 times because I didn't believe it, but my scale gave me the same output each time. This scale has been good to me since I got it at the beginning of the year, so I don't think the scale is off.

I don't think I went over my WW daily point total much when I did go over. My friends are saying I could be more dehydrated than usual. If this is a legit 5lbs lost, it is my highest weight loss in one week this year.

edit: Weighed in again. Says 234.6. Maybe I am just fluctuating? I will keep 233.2 for this week and see what happens next weigh in.

So don't get discouraged if you didn't drop as much as you wanted to so far. Haven't been as committed as you wanted? There's still time to change that, and feel good about yourself, even if you miss the goal you set for PAX. If getting fit was easy, we'd all look like Adonis.

this is often my problem. when I don't lose as much as I want to I start punishing myself, and all that really does is make it worse. but I'm trying to stay positive and hope the next few weeks I'll catch up on pounds. if not, at least I am continuing to work at it.

Ugh, life is cruel. I haven't been keeping track at all, and I'm kind of scared to, to be honest. I plan on taking the rest of my school semester to make good use of the gym that is literally right across the hall from my dorm room. No excuses, damn it. I can at least get a little fit before PAX.
