Law now demands that everyone shall be seen by a specialist no more than one month after their issue is brought to the attention of a hospital. Not to patronize, but have you talked about your doctor(s) about that.

Number of years back I was on a similar number, and was heavily advised to cut everything I could because they couldn't reasonably control for the ways they'd all inter-react with my system.

I would recommend at least asking them about the possibility of such a problem, and their thoughts.

Okay, cool. Yeah, I agree that there would be a lot of details to work out, but it seems like it would be simpler and better than the current situation. If people ended up preferring Medicare and private health insurance gradually went out of business due to lack of customers, you'd be fine with that due to the free market and all? I mean, it's not as if the government is obliged to protect an industry's business model.

    1. All pharmacies have green neon crosses highly visible for some reason and there are a jillion of them.

    2. That reason is probably that if you sneeze, the french will go "SACRE BLEU YOU ARE SICK GO GET ZOME MEDICIN!"

    3. I don't know more about french healthcare.
    4. 10,000 people died of heat-related illness in the summer of 2003 while the health system was on vacation.
    Weren't they all old, though?

I'm ready for some French-style healthcare. Fix Medicare right up! We'll be solvent in no time!
Yeah, I thought that was due primarily to nobody in France knowing how to deal with real heat because it never gets that hot there, and old people being pretty fragile.

Also, are we really going to get cut up about France? It's France for crying out loud. What have they done for me lately besides setting up a massively dysfunctional economy that might screw me into a Romney presidency?

    This is what I know:

    2. That reason is probably that if you sneeze, the french will go "SACRE BLEU YOU ARE SICK GO GET ZOME MEDICIN!"

    what health-related illnessess was that

and you can bet your ass they were all halfway to a heat stroke and dehydrated and going all

    SACRE BLEU

    I AM SICK

    I NEED SOME MEDICINE

and then they went and got some medicine and then they died.

People in large parts of Europe also die during the winter when Russia decides to close the pipeline to fuck with Ukraine.

So there is some seasonal flavors of death here.
