    I usually order it with onion but then take about 2 thirds off the burger.

    Hmm yeah I'm fan of onion, but I can see it being a pretty strong flavour. What if I sautee the whole slice of onion in the pan for a few minutes to soften the flavour a bit?

    There is a pretty big difference between caramilised onions and sautéed onions.

    Just had my performance appraisal

    My manager was really happy with everything, said I was very friendly, helpful and hardworking; I should be due for the standard payrise in June if I keep up the good work.

    I guess all this kindle reading, forum and reddit browsing is really paying off!

    Well I have to say that was a rousing success. I may have made the patties a bit too thick because the thing was hard to manage, but it was pretty damn good.

    I want to make awesome burgers, but the ingredients aren't really available in single-serving quantities, so I'd have to have awesome burgers for like a solid week to prevent wastage.

    ...It sounded like a problem in my head, but now that I've written it down it sounds really good.

    I much prefer thinner patties honestly.

    That is pretty damn close to the exact size of a Maccas cheeseburger patty. Which are something like 5mm thick? I dunno, I've never actually measured one. But pretty fucking thin, anyway...

    Make sure you don't overwork them though. Squish and knead them too much and they'll get tough.
