Total Recall is soooo good. Just a perfect Arnie film.

And now they're remaking it because what great films need is someone to remake them. Wait.

Yeah, he seems pretty passionate about it

I hear they can have little bubbles in them that may affect the way they roll but I can't imagine it's any more of an issue than with the standard sort of Chessex dice

I've also heard the argument that since they settle so quickly it doesn't affect it so much anyway

Honestly I just love how sharp they look and that's enough, though

Having just seen the trailer for the trailer of the new version of Total Recall I can safely say that this is a film that does not star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Looks like they spent a shitload on it, though. We shall see.

Also, I love that the automatic iPad spellchecker has Schwarzenegger in it.

    Yup, I totally believe it!

Still, even if they weren't that much better, I'd count them as good enough

I've been rolling my old sets and noticing that they totally do have a tendency to fall on a certain side of the die. One set got consistently low rolls, another consistently high, and I know one of my players probably got fucked for it. His guns jam so often in Dark Heresy it's mad.

I literally just now found out about it as I was making this thread and yeah, it had some pretty CG stuff but it looks kind of anodyne otherwise. I don't want to hate on something right out of the gate but remaking Total Recall (while apparently not actually being any more faithful to the book) is such a bizarrely pointless move.

Is this a case of being trigger-happy? An unarmed teen walks up to two armed security guards demanding they get away from his sister or he'd kill them and then he is shot. Legally, the guards can claim self-defense but, in your opinion, chu, was this adhering to firearms discipline?

But the director has done nothing except mediocre movies starring his wife in tight leather and the shitty Die Hard sequel. Hmmm. Maybe he will pull a Curtis Hanson and turn in something awesome. I dunno.

But Terry Gilliam is right there and no one's throwing $200 million dollars his way to make an SF epic about unreliable memories.

My understanding is that Hollywood generally perceives giving Terry Gilliam money as akin to lighting it on fire.

well, if i'm reading it directly, he approached them while they were being shot at by another (unrelated) guy from inside a nearby apartment. it also wasn't clear to me whether or not he was still in his car when he threatened to kill them.

but assuming that reading is correct- that he approached on foot, unarmed, and threatened to kill them if they didn't leave his sister alone- yes i think it was terrible to shoot the teen.

but the story doesn't really make sense, that the guy was having a conversation with the guards while they were being shot at.

I just watched this scene, and... wow, Mars has the worst designed spaceport in history.

You blow a window, everything gets sucked out into the vacuum outside and everyone is at risk of dying, but you need to actually press a button to close the safety doors? I can see a pressure warning on the computer screen right there, so they do have pressure sensors installed in the spaceport to detect that there's a leak. But no one ever thought of linking that computer to the safety door control so it can close everything off automatically? What if no one can get to that button, it just blows out all the air and everyone in the spaceport suffocates?

That's putting aside the fact they're making life-protecting windows to a vacuum out of a single sheet of glass. Not even bullet-proof or shatter-proof glass. Just plain glass. Hell, my apartment window has two sheets of glass, and all it's protecting me from is fresh air.

And when Arnold escapes and the guy orders the door opened, the other guy says they can't because they're all connected. So if they open one, they all open. So if one breaks, do they all break too? And how are they going to get the people out of the sealed spaceport arrival room then? They can't open the door since they're all connected. Do they have to get a crew with blowtorches to burn through the safety door? Or sent people outside to repair the window before they can open up and let people out? I hope that spaceport arrival room equipped with stockpiles of air, water and food, because either way people are going to be there a while.
