edited April 2012 in PAX Archive
It was suggested by someone on a thread somewhere at sometime that we have a Cookie Brigade Bingo for all the yummy cookies you can find at PAX. I am working on putting this together - who is interested?

Cookie Brigade Bingo!

Rules:
-Open to the first 25 people who sign up
-Brigadeers can play, but are not eligible to win prizes
-Cookies/Brigadeers must be found "in the wild." This means if you find a brigadeer/cookie in our super secret staging area, you will be disqualified from winning the prizes.
-The 1st person to get Bingo wins the 1st prize; the 2nd person to get Bingo wins the 2nd prize; the 3rd person to get Bingo wins the 3rd prize; the 1st person to get blackout Bingo wins the grand prize! All other players who complete Bingo will receive a participation prize. You are eligible for 1 prize only.
-Instead of numbers, the Bingo card has cookie types, and donation amounts.
-If you get a cookie from a brigadeer that is on your card, the brigadeer will mark your card.
-If you donate (to Child's Play) the amount on your card, the brigadeer will mark your card. Donations are cumulative.
-The center square, Attend PAX! is free

How to join:

Send me a PM with your desire to play and your email address and you will receive your Bingo playing card! Please make sure to print it out to bring with you to PAX!

How to win:

You can win by getting Bingo in one of the following ways: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, or blackout. If you get Bingo, advise the brigadeer who will escort you to your prize.

Prizes:

Grand Prize - A cookie basket with each type of cookie baked by our wonderful bakers, PAX swag, and $25
1st Prize - A cookie basket with each type of cookie baked by our wonderful bakers and $15

Was that me? I think that was me. WANT. I would... I would probably win that bingo. ALL of the bingos.

Can you elaborate on this idea? How will Bingo work? Is it by cookie type or person I need to find?

  • browncoatbethbrowncoatbeth Registered User regular
sounds like a cool idea - you could have some of the more well known items - punzie's chocolate chip cookie covered oreos, ransim's space invader candies, lexicongrrl's obscene rice krispy treats... i'd go on the hunt for cookies! :)

if you do decide to put it together, please don't forget to include my katamari cakeballs: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7542311@N02/4705302256/in/set-72157624160840083/

with the fact that I'm only making 12 dozen, they should be a rather rare find! ;)

All of those are on the card mockups actually. I'll post game details tonight, just wanted to make sure there was interest!

I believe its by cookie type. You nom the right type of cookie and you get to mark it off.

  • aerynkellyaerynkelly nothing to see here, move along Registered User regular
Yes, by cookie type. Posting details and rules shortly!

Rules posted. They may change slightly over the next couple of days as the brigade irons out details. Please bear with us if they do!

Will this be open to brigadiers or just non-cookie folk? I feel like I would be able to snag a lot of cookies/punches having a spot in the BYOC room. Of course, I don't think it'd be quite fair :P
Also, as a brigadier, do I need to do anything to become involved?

Not sure how being in BYOC will help you. >_>'

I think its probably safe to assume this is for non-brigadiers. :)

I've started a list of players who have signed up in the OP, so you can see your competition (and see how many spaces are available.)

This is going to be a blast! I'm a Brigadier this year, so I won't play, but I can't wait to mark off bingo cards. :D

  • browncoatbethbrowncoatbeth Registered User regular
oh, am I not allowed to play as a brigadeer?

    From the rules:
-Brigadeers can play, but are not eligible to win prizes

Compared to the average PAX goer its much easier for a brigadier to win. We know the source of all things nom worthy.

question: do brigadiers ever tweet their locations? i didn't run into too many last year and i was wondering if there is a way of tracking them down that is more efficient than aimless wandering.

I always tweeted "Heading to X panel or in Expo hall" along with the #cookiebrigade hashtag last year.

    At times, yes.

@browncoatbeth you can play :) To keep things fair though, you won't be eligible to win the prizes.

I believe in the past brigadiers have done like Lady Lilybell said and used the #cookiebrigade tag if they were tweeting their location. Keep an eye on that hashtag for your best chance at info. I'm going to try and do more of that myself this year.

Brigadiers that use twitter do and try to use to #cookiebrigade hashtag. We'll be more active with the @cookie_brigade main account and trying to retweet those posts as they happen.

You can also tweet to @Cookie_brigade and if someone sees it we can send someone over to the line.

Cookie Brigade members do not sell cookies. They give out free cookies and/or snacks. They also accept donations to Child's Play.

Yep! The cookies and candy and other tasty bits are entirely free. We just collect donations for Child's Play at the same time, but there is zero obligation to ever pay for stuff. We just like making tasty stuff for fellow PAX goers.

ahh, silly me. sometimes I forget to read!

since only 25 people can play, please feel free to give my spot up to someone who is eligible for prizes as we get closer to PAX and if you start to fill up.

question for brigadiers: what would you say is an appropriate (or at least a typical) donation for cookies? i certainly don't want to be cheap, but i also plan on getting lots and lots of cookies! trying to plan how much cash to have on hand.

All donations go to Child's Play, so it is entirely up to the donor. The donation amounts vary so greatly that it's hard to really say what a "typical" donation amount is. Donations are not required to receive cookies.
