I am angered at Bob McDonnell for ruining my perfect prediction by his zealous overreaching into women's uteri.

    Jerkface.

and I'm mad because I wouldn't be able to read a Romney/McDonnell ticket without thinking of this guy:

It's a tricky proposition, I'll give you that. There aren't that many candidates that can both help Romney while A) attracting new voters and B) not scaring off other voters.

Romney is seen as a moderate by his party, but his party's core is seen by everyone else to be fucking looney-tunes. He picks someone like Santorum, everyone else stays home and Obama wins 50 states. He picks someone in the establishment like Rubio or Ryan, no one gives a shit, and his turnout stays exactly the same, and Romney has to hope the Southerners and evangelicals will suck it up and hold their nose.

Honestly, given that set of criteria, Newt Gingrich seems like a not-insane choice. Think about it:

    - Established name in the party
    - Southerner
    - Appeals to at least half of the Santorum voters, if not more
    - Totally crazy

Will that happen? Don't know. I don't see Romney as the type for picking anyone for his cabinet that might actually form an opinion.

If they were going to do that, they'd go with the considerably less insane appearing and actually stable/disciplined Haley Barbour.

He also looks like what people would imagine a southern governor looking like.

    which might be helpful.

Here's why I don't think that would happen:

    1.) Gingrich is poison.
2.) He would never accept it.
3.) Romney's Magnificent Ego would never extend that invitation.

Frankly, I have no idea who the Republicans are going to be able to tap for the job that won't be some barely known entity floating out in the states. All of their known entities have gigantic negatives for the general.

It's going to be interesting in Tampa, to say the least.

Crazy Option: Romney picks Rand Paul in exchange for Ron not running on a 3rd party ticket.

I know it's more of a joke, but I'm gonna ask for real.

Do they really believe, I mean truly, that this county would be better off if women and minorities couldn't vote, we were ran by strict theocratic values, and that poor people should give more money to the rich?

I mean, is it just a show they put on for the hard cores or is this something that actually goes on in their brains?

Consider the demographic of the people who hold this belief: overwhelmingly, it's pampered white males who grew-up in 50s-60s. There's almost no question that life really was better for these pieces of shit while they were growing-up in a time where everything heavily favoured them and they themselves weren't paying the fairly high taxes.

Then their society decided that maybe not everything should always swing their way and began to level-out the playing field, and this has righteously pissed them off.

One of the msnbc shows has been tracking a total absence of attack ads on the part of Ron Paul toward Romney; I'd say the Rand Paul hypothesis could hold water.

This has been our resident Paul fan's theory for months.

And I would be delighted. Among other things, that would be the most hilariously lopsided foreign policy election in the history of the country.

Rubio's pretty likely, I think. Ryan will want to stay chairman of the Budget Committee. Also, no ticket with a sitting Representative as VP has won since 1932, and that was with the Speaker of the House.

My VP pick is ol' trusty Santorum. He's become a star for the evangelical and Tea Party blocs from the primaries, which makes him a logical choice to get them to show up for the general to vote for Willard. He's also getting good at public speaking, a trait Romney lacks.

He could very well do, Santorum is going to get something out of this campaign, the party can't afford to just tell him to STFU and risk losing his supporters.

Yep. If Santorum isn't given the VP slot he'll get a high ranking government job in Romney's administration. That may be Ryan's back-up plan, as well.

Actually, in all fairness, I don't think Romney is a bad orator. His problem is that he looks slimy while he's speaking; if you just listen to him without watching, he's pretty concise. He doesn't add much in terms of color, but he gets it done without being rambly or tripping all over his words.

If he wants a great orator, though, I honestly think he should go with Perry. Perry would be an excellent speaker if the content of his messages wasn't so fucking terrible.

Your guess is wrong, Romney is the moderate. They're going to need something to pull the far right in to vote.
