The red wedding isn't really an immediate catalyst for anything in the way the death of Ned was.

Well... (Book spoilers for Storm of Swords and into Feast for Crows)
It pretty much ends the war.

    Those are massive book spoilers

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

yeah I just pretty much ain't been clicking any

I'm not reading them because emily and I are watching each season, so I'm waiting until each season ends to read the corresponding novel

Well, at least you plan on reading them.

A bunch of friends who actually got me into the show (leading me to purchase and consume the five books last winter) have absolutely no interest in ever reading any of them.

One of them even has the first few books on tape.
    Can't. Be. Bothered.

    Book 3
I literally threw my device (android tablet) away from me when the Red Wedding happened, and the Ned Stark death didn't really phase me since it seemed inevitable. Red Wedding is definitely a shock moment, which makes it worse.

I think it'd be cool if we could do like

anyone older than a week or from the previous season(s) is fair game, open

anything from the books marked by the book it's a spoiler from

if that's draconian I can just not click any spoilers

I really cannot find it in me to read Book 4. I've read about 4 or 5 chapters and its just not working for me.

you're reading the books after the season

spoilers would contain anything that's not aired yet

why would you click any spoilers anyway?

    Turns out... (book 4)
Ros is actually All the Courtesans of Bravos.

    All of them.

Ros isn't real, she's a figment of Tyrion's imagination after he took a blow to the head in battle.

Because a priestess sees him as the lord of light?

And a good king doesn't need the love of the people.

    hahaha

she knows he's no big deal
his sword 'lightbringer' is bullshit, it's not the right sword.

She never sees him in her flames, he's just a means for her to do whatever she's planning on doing

also there's the matter of there being at least two more 'lord of light's, also endorsed by red priests

Best thing about the Red Wedding is that, on reread, you realize that Martin spent the whole book hinting that something bad was going to happen at the wedding. Like, every time it comes up someone mentions that Frey is pissed and might do something nasty. It's just that the characters saying it think that "nasty" means something like pissing in the soup.

    I hope she's a POV, even.

I hope she's the first POV in Winds of Winter.
