I recently got back in to playing 40k and back in fourth edition I was a necron player. I recently picked up the new codex and noticed a change with the Monolith. I have a couple of questions regarding the eternity gate.
First, can I use both its troop deployment and its portal of exile in the same turn? Troop deployment in movement phase and the portal of exile in shooting? Second, if I use the portal of exile in the shooting phase am I still able to fire the particle whip and the gauss weapons?
EDIT: Forgot to ask, the units that use the Monolith to deploy do the use the disembarking rules? Thanks.
1. The eternity gate rule says that it can be used "in one of two ways each turn." So you only get to use it as the dimensional corridor OR the portal of exile each turn.
2. Under where it says Unit Type: Vehicle it lists *Heavy, and states the monolith counts as stationary when it shoots, so it can fire everything. Portal, Whip, and Gauss weapons.
3. Yes, "That unit immediately phases out from its current position and 'disembarks' from the Monolith's portal". 2" from the portal
The following people are amazing and I love them: Wildcat, Timspork, Kias, Denada, susan, Sharp101, [GHSC]Ryctor, Matev, Matrias, ItBurns, Slapnuts, Dayspring, see317, and the unknown poster that sent me a box of Death Company! If you get them as Santees you should buy them amazing things!

Sorry, it would seem I didn't read the monolith entry very well at all. Thanks for clarifying for me.

"... can be used one of two ones on each of your turns ..." So no. And yes they use the regular disembarking rules.

Mostly finished my first 5 man squad just waiting on the GF as she is painting the missile launcher marine and is being even more lazy than me about it, and I need to pick up a few more paints as I bought a very basic supply to start. The lighting is terrible here its either washed out or super dark so dark is what you get until I find a better spot to take some photos.

I've been getting the 40k itch again after playing fantasy for a year. Might be time to use some of the boxes I got for secret santa and resurrect my infant Necron army from years ago.

Wow... So last week I finished my second assault squad and upgraded my commander. Taking stock, I have 1 tactical squad that's half done (need painting and gluing on their arms/bits) and a devistator squad that's still on the sprue but after that, I'll have a full battle company (minus squad designated transports).

Answer 2 isn't 100% correct. The Particle Whip is still Ordnance, so it can't be fired at the same time as any other weapon. So you can fire the Whip OR the Portal and Flux Arcs.

Tri-Optimum reminds you that there are only one-hundred-sixty-three shopping days until Christmas. Just 1 extra work cycle twice a week will give you the spending money you need to make this holiday a very special one.

I would gladly pay 3x the price for models if it meant I could walk into a store pretty much anywhere and have a fun game without knowing my opponent
This happens for maybe the first month or so of going to a store here in Australia. Then you pretty much know everyone who goes there. Then you either just play people again, or try a different store.
Although some of the event nights have more folks to play.
Thats perfect too. Still meeting more people and actually wanting to play them.
Right now, I play Altmann.... that's pretty much it :P When my club was going strong there were 3 or 4 guys that I really, truly enjoyed playing. In this area, the odds of me walking into a store for the first time and playing a silly goose is so high, that I just don't do it anymore.
Come visit Perth sometime then, and bring all your mans!
I would love to
Also... Necron Warrior heads are attached to the sprue in such a retarded way
Nuh uh. Come to Melbourne. Melbourne is much better than Perth. More importantly, we have a better 40k scene as well :P

There's another iphone app that has characters directly ripped off from Tomb Kings. Specific models. That Mummy that looks like it needs to pee, a Tomb Stalker and the Necropshinx. GW didn't even touch them.
I would suspect that the iphone app probably wasn't assumed to have enough money behind it to make tying lawyers up worthwhile. Especially while they're still working on the mess the Chapterhouse suit has become. EA, on the other hand, is not lacking in the funding department, so I imagine tying lawyers up going after them would be significantly better value for money.

I haven't followed the CH stuff...but I was under the impression that their original issue was that CH was using trademarked GW words like Tervigon or Blood Ravens or something.
I dunno, either way it was merely a jab at GW's draconian stance on IP.

No, it started when they actually released individual models that infringed on their IP. They didn't mind when it was conversion bits. Well, they did, but they let it go. When they made an actual, individual model for the Doom of Malan'tai, and called it that, GW had enough. CH never released that model, but still has preview pictures up in a random news post, with the DoM name on it, an a copyright Chapterhouse watermark on it.
However, the arguments GW presented initially were based on incorrect IP advice, because their IP lawyers were terrible (it was on the advice of the original IP lawyers GW held back the Tervigon model, their new IP lawyers told them to release it). They've since gotten new IP lawyers.

I was going to be like, "Well, how far apart could they be?" but then I looked at a map... preeeetty much as far as possible from each other :P

I had my first 40k game in foreeeeever. Me and another ex-Relic guy decided to take advantage of the fact we didn't have jobs and hit the LGS mid-day. I won.
I ran my Thunderwolf Lord and got to fight a full squad of Ogryns with him. I thought I was going to get rolled but he killed two on his own the first turn of assault. I splurged for the 2+ save, so he was able to hang in pretty easily.
Once can be put down to coincidence, although that was a hell of a coincidence. Twice means something fishy is definitely going on.

They're hard to put down to coincidence when they copy the entire design and maybe take a gun off or put a tiny gun on somewhere. Even the plate seals, rivets and piping is in the same places.

Yeah they're silver... I used the new 'Leadbelcher' silver from the line and it is pretty dark. Like, Charlie Murphy Darkness dark.

I'm not really up-to-date on how IP works but could GW go monkeyshit on EA for this?
"EVEN IN DEATH I STILL COOK MOTHERFUCKERS".
The fact that they haven't been able to successfully fight the case against chapterhouse argues against them having good IP lawyers.
In fact, the chapterhouse case was started in wrong advice from their original IP lawyers.

You know, it's just so hard to find good IP lawyers anymore.
Time to celebrate with some frivolous spending!

It's knowing when they are going to sue someone's fucking pants right off.
My Lord was riding with a Cheese-Dog with a Thunder Hammer, so once the first assault was weathered I chewed through them pretty quick.
Amirite.
Yes. Except Sisters of Battle aren't tweens with pornstar bodies and toddler faces.
Also 40k fluff is less convoluted and stupid than every Japanese everything ever.
