Mac MMOs

I've been browsing around the net for a good mmo for Mac, because my wife thought it would be fun to game together. However, most of the online recommendations are at least 3 years old. Can anyone offer a good suggestion for an mmo that is preferably:

1) Cheap/not subsription based
2) Robust and social
3) maybe fantasy oriented? (not crucial.)

    Not all of these are MMOs in the classical sense, but they fit the bill. Maybe you should just install Bootcamp instead.

    Wouldn't BootCamp still require investing in a copy of Windows? That would be a big strike against affordability, though a palatable solution in other respects. Thanks for the suggestions, though; I'll check them out.

    There's also EvE, which runs natively on Mac, but that fails condition #1, sorta fails #2 depending on how robust an experience you want, and is obviously not a fantasy MMO.

    Really, if you want a broader range of MMOs, F2P and Subscription based, or any multiplayer games in general, it's better to invest in Bootcamp or a proper PC. If you go and stick with a F2P game, it might even pay for itself in the long term. I myself used Bootcamp for several years before recently getting a proper gaming PC. Macs are awesome, but they are still slowly catching up to PC for game functionality and it's better to go for PC for that.

    If you do eventually go with Bootcamp or a PC, I also always recommend GW2, which is F2P after the box purchase and is a great fantasy MMO coming out later this year. Certainly something to look at also. The original Guild Wars is also F2P after the box purchase, and is multiplayer, if not technically an MMO, and would suit your needs as it can be very easily emulated to run on Mac using stuff like Wine.

    Non-browser, WoW, I'm afraid, is the best option (if subscription based). There's EvE, but it's not native - it runs on a custom version of Wine AFAIK, and suffers from it (to the point I used to reboot to Bootcamp for fleet actions). There's also WAR, which runs likewise.

    If you're willing to set up Wine yourself (have a look at Wineskin), LOTRO, Guild Wars and STO are all playable. STO is a little dodgy, but the other two are very playable. If nothing else, it's an avenue to try before buying Windows for BootCamp.

    If you're serious about gaming, though, I'd echo the previous posters - BootCamp is the way to go. On the iMac it's very practical for games (although the Witcher 2 suffers on my 2 year old iMac).

    I don't know much about the player base and it is quite old but Everquest Mac is completely free. Stopped at the 4th expansion as well but still a good amount of content with no restrictions like a lot of "free" mmos.

    As detestable as it sounds, Runescape has been revamped to hell and back and looks and plays pretty well right now.

    I was pretty impressed to find they managed to add Bloom to it. The new starter areas are really well made and genuinely fun. As a bonus, the leveling up is faster.

    EQMac is awesome, and wayyy better than the current PC Everquest. It's got all the magic EQ had when it first started simply because the later expansions completely ruined the game. I still play on a regular (daily, for several hours) basis. If you decide to play send me a tell (Utinlaar or Kendaorf)
