Cable never comes back to the present and, like, tells everyone how great things are. I'd kind of expect the response to him showing-up and declaring that the world will meet some terrible demise at the hands of <EXISTENTIAL THREAT X!> to be pretty nonchalant at this point.

"Yes, Cable. Yes. We get it. The Earth is once again on fire, the skies are once again raining gasoline and it is also all our fault once again. How many times is this? Like the one millionth time? There is apparently nothing we can do that will not end in a hilarious global catastrophe, so y'know what? Fuck it."

Cable should come back some day just to go "yo emma, get some milk next tuesday, don't forget."

and then she does and the WORLD ENDS.

No way. She goes to get the milk, and everything seems fine, but then we get a panel showing a close-up of the carton:

    It expired on Monday.

Final panel is of the clerk at the grocery store laughing, with glowing purple eyes.

Give the clerk Mister Sinister's eyes and make it a plan to give Hope food poisoning and you can get that printed for August. It'd fit right in.

I'll be honest: I have no idea who Hope is. Or why Colossus is wearing Juggernaut's armor. I have some vague idea of why Red Hulk is fighting with the Avengers. I am curious as to whom is currently being inhabited by Venom, if anyone.

My comic book reading has sort-of been on pause ever since Marvel & DC decided they wanted Millar to write for them. I hate that man (or what he writes, anyway).

Hope is the only mutant born since the Scarlet Witch said "No more mutants.". She was taken into the future and raised by Cable so now she's sixteen. Many regard her as a "Mutant Messiah".

Colossus is wearing Juggernaut's armor because Juggernaut got possessed by an ancient Norse god and Colossus pledged himself to Cyttorak in order to stop him.

Venom is currently Flash Thompson. The military got the symbiote and used it for covert ops stuff that Flash got involved in because he's a good soldier but he lost his legs in Iraq.

So Venom is now basically a wheelchair.

I am so glad I asked.

Flash Thompson Venom is better than Kasady in every possible way.

I have never been a fan of Carnage, but if Venom no longer has a gigantic mouth full of sharp things and says hilariously disturbing things while talking in the 3rd person, I do not think I would enjoy his comic appearances anymore.

He does when the he doesn't control himself, and bigger/meaner than Gargan and Brock ever did! It is an awesome series. ( And he shows up in the latest Carnage USA mini, so you could get an intro to Venom thru that, and get your Carnage fix.)

He was also slowly begun bonding to it, the We's are slipping out more and more. Flash Thompson Venom is the bomb!

It bothers me that someone would choose Carnage over Venom. It shouldn't but it does.

Regarding the Avengers jumping out of the helicarrier: Weren't a bunch of them holding some sort of pugil stick looking things at the end of AvX #1, and that was nowhere to be seen in New Avengers? I could be mistaken, I don't have the books in front of me. I figured they were going to be some sort of mutant power nullifier, after the whole training thing between Hope and Cyclops. "OMG, Grandpappy Scott was right, but I'm gonna own Captain America like a boss!"

  • AriviaArivia I Like A Challenge Earth-1Registered User regular
No, you're right. I figure that, or they're teleport rods to snag Hope.

    Guess we'll see on Wednesday.

Yeah, this is true. And it makes me sad that Wolverine and Magneto never did a Fastball Special 2.0 when they were on the same side.

every time someone says red hulk is this great character

I get smug and say I told fuckin' you so

Then I cry a little because who gets smug about these things

I know exactly what you mean. All of it.
