Look at Greg Pak's Hulk, for instance. Over the course of Pak's run, Hulk finds family, loses it, becomes a villain, becomes a hero, finds a surrogate family in the other Hulks, and ultimately makes peace with his duality, becoming the most ideal version of himself possible.

And then Jason Aaron came in, and ignored all that, so he could do Hulk v.s. Banner. And while I think that's dumb, I can kinda understand why. Where do you take a Hulk who's finally put to rest his demons, reunited with the one he loves most, and possesses the best of both Hulk and Banner?

Remember when the exact same thing happened with Peter David back in the 90s?

Compare that to something like Brian Bendis' run of Daredevil, which ends with Matt in jail. Instantly, that sets up a ton of possibilities for Brubaker to play with.

Plus, just from a sales and marketing point of view, I think it makes sense to leave some big stuff, for the next guy. If you end your run with everything having basically resolved, that's a good way to lose a lot of your audience. How many books have you abandoned, when you felt like the writer ended their run on a satisfying note? I know I've dropped a ton of books for that reason. But, if you leave a couple stories for the next guy to tell, there's a better chance of the existing readers sticking with the book.

The problem with this approach, is when the oncoming writer A) is inferior to or B) has a wildly different approach, than the previous writer. Then you can wind up with something that's disappointing, and seems incongruous with what came before.

I agree and disagree with this. A part of what you're saying seems to imply that there's a finite amount of ideas around a character. With specific regard to what you said about the Hulk I think the plots you've listed off are the lowing hanging fruits in terms of story ideas. A good writer should be able to do something unique.

That being said, I like and agree with what you said about Daredevil. Leaving a character in an interesting place is, well, interesting. I wonder though if that would bother some writers. I imagine a lot of these guys have ideas for stories they want to tackle and don't want to be forced to play with the toys other writers have left them.

Dissapointed with AvX#2. The whole conflict feels rushed and for heroes who Civil War/Siege should still be fresh in their minds they're all too willing to rush and beat up each other. Also I didn't like the various quips..this should be a serious matter to all of them.

Is there an Infinite for this issue? Comixology is down at the moment, which is the first time that's happened for me.

No Infinite for this issue TexiKen, they have not announced what/when for the next infinite yet.

    "Ride or Die?" asked Goku

"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

The writing of Cyclops in AvX #2 is... bad.

Wolverine as well. Super ready to shank Hope, after all he did in Schism.

No kidding, the series has a few plot holes already. And the conflict between characters outside of Cap vs. Cyclops feels so forced.
The Avengers don't want to kill Hope, and they're not arresting her, despite sending the helicarrier and the whole team to get her. But then Wolverine sneaks into Utopia to kill Hope. Say he did kill her, it won't stop the Phoenix from coming here, it's been around before she was born on its own, it would just make it more likely to destroy the world.

And the space Avengers bit, they're just going to stand in the way? How does that make any sense?

Black Panther and Storm felt forced, as though they haven't talked to one another for weeks.

Quicksilver didn't make any sense fighting the X-Men, as taking Hope away from the X-Men would be the same thing as the Avengers wanting to take Wanda away on Genosha. It doesn't seem to balance out.

I picked up Avengers #25 because of Simonson's art, and it's a bait and switch, it's not an AvX tie-in save for the last page, it's Avengers vs. AIM. So going by the tie-ins so far, the X-Men stuff seems to be more connected. Hopefully Secret Avengers isn't two pages of them in space and the rest a flashback talking about a mission.

obviously they aren't going to just stand in the way, they are going to try and fight/hold back the Phoenix Force

There is nothing said in the issue about trying to make some kind of energy converter or prison, or anything. They're just standing in the way of a force that razes planets so easily people on Sin are placing bets on the next planet to die (which was a nice bookend to WatXM). I don't think Valkryie can cut it's leg off or anything.

Well they have Beast in a spaceship likely equipped with all sorts of science gadgets

War Machine in his 2.0 armor

Noh-Varr with all of his crazy ass Kree tech

    Two Asgardian gods

Ms. Marvel with her energy absorption

Captain Britain with his considerable power and durability

and Vision who has a few tricks of his own

I think they are going to do a little more than just float at it

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what they're trying to do up there in space. It's not like they're going to stop it, or talk some reason into it. It would have made more sense if they would have had Reed create some device and take that up there with them or something. But they just put Beast in a space suit and sent a team up there to die, it feels like.

And again, we have seen the Phoenix kill off planets like it ain't no thing. Like Spookymuffin wrote, 8 superheroes don't really stand a chance, and were just kind of sent up there because they didn't want to throw the balance of the fights out of kilter on earth. A team of more scientists would have made more sense, like Pym, Hank, Tony, Reed, even T'Challa and Thor is there as the bodyguard. Hell, send Franklin up there with Galactus, that is more of delaying tactic. With Jean going crazy, she was at least acting as a dam to block the power most of the time. The same thing in Endsong, where it was a sliver of Phoenix getting back to earth. The way the event has been set up, this is the Phoenix Force 100% unchecked, cruising through the universe, having lots of fun, here comes earthworm jim the Phoenix for you know that it's a mighty one.

Guess I'm just a sucker for these things

    Loved Thor in Avengers
Thor: Hey guys, I'm back from the dead

    Cap: Hey

    Thor: What's wrong, Cap?

Cap: Nothin. Just feeling a bit down.

Thor: Aww, cheer up, chum. You're doing a good job.

Cap: Thanks. That makes me feel better.

Thor: Wanna beat up some evil scientists?

    Cap: Sure thing, old pal!

Then 2 pages later he's hitting on Storm like it ain't no thang
Asgardian gods don't waste any time getting back in business

Dammit what is wrong with my Kindle Fire in terms of downloading the second A vs. X-men issue from comiXology to the tablet? It says it's downloaded but the issue doesn't show up in the My Comics area.

Yeah I enjoyed the issue as well. I mean I can see how some would complain about the characterization but I thought Aaron addressed that the best he could throughout the story, like it wasn't just them fighting just for the sake of fighting. But that's just me.

It will be interesting to see what Fraction, Brubaker, and Hickman bring to the table.

I really enjoyed AvX #0, it was fun to see MODOK and Hope kicked tons of ass. (Although it seemed like in Wanda's section, Cho was focusing on a lot of pin-up shots to the detriment of the action.)

Anyway! I did enjoy what Cho did with Ms Marvel's costume, where he outlined the lightning bolt in seams and gave it a completely different texture than the latex fetish porn everyone normally draws it as. Thoughts?

He's done that for a long time, and is the only artist who consistently draws texture to her costume. Yes, I like it. I also generally like that he draws her with some mass, and not like some skinny bitch supermodel.

WatXM and Avengers were stone cold fantastic, although Justice League and Batman were so damn good this week that DC finally won the week for me for the first time this year.

But maaaaaaan, that Thor scene Turambar mentioned was just wonderful. I really really loved this issue of Avengers.

I thought AvX2 was pretty bad, though. And it sort of felt to me like Jason Aaron did, too.

We'll probably know when versus 2 hits

which means the fights will be during AvX 4

my guess is Hope bails and creates decoys across the globe so the Avengers and X-Men send everyone just in case one of them is legit

What's the original Juggernaut up to these days?

I just remember that one episode of the X-Men tv show where someone else got the gem and took his abilities, and the Juggernaut was like "Waaaah, I'm gonna die without my power" and the X-Men decided to help him get it back.

So, is Marko, like. What is he doing? Is he a gardener somewhere now, or something?

I thought Cho inscribed it in the last book I bought of his under the sketch he did of Carol from behind, but I guess he just said in reply to my telling him how much I like his Ms. Marvel, "It all about the ass."

@ Linespider That last Q&A with Alonso or someone suggested that he's just off the table for a while, which seems weird because it seems like the kind of thing Parker would follow up with in Tbolts/DA.

See, that works, and in a page you have a reason for the team, and that's the kind of thing you want to mention in the main series as they head out en route to the Phoenix and then put a little box to say "follow the space team's perils in Secret Avengers #26" (the same for the AvX tie-in fights); Instead of everyone going "welp, we're dead" like we saw, just have Hank say "this energy cage I've had plans on over the years might not be enough...." etc etc. The main series is supposed to be an entry point, and when the non continuity heavy reader just see 8 heroes floating out there without a real reason to float out there, only given the point that it's a suicide mission, it leads to unnecessary confusion. Even in the first issue there was nothing about how the team was going to accomplish their goal, the issues just give the idea they are bodies to be speed bumps.
