So tonight's episode was really good.

Little twist at the end was a little predictable, but the overall episode's story about how we sometimes push away the people who try to help us, and the value in those people not giving up, was very well done.

Twist ending, he died and this is his own version of hell.

I think both realities must be equally real. If If one is fake like the therapists say, then it becomes a Shyamalan type Gotcha!
And that's nearly as unsatisfying as if both are dreams. What's the point if he's dead all along?

In the summary for the show, though, it states: "After the death of a family member," and so on.

    So.

I kinda need the arc of this show to take off if it's going to keep me interested. The pilot was pretty incredible, but it's rapidly becoming very procedural.

Okay, that cold open was the best thing since the pilot.

Hopefully the rest of the episode is on par, because I've been less enthused by this show as it goes on.

    Oh my God.
The penguin (puffin?) and accompanying music is amazing. Just. Amazing.

BY FAR the best episode since the pilot. Really, really good. BD Wong was excellent.

Next week looks like dumb conspiracy nonsense though.

    God damn

    this show is too good

the swerve at the end rocked my tiny brain

Yeah this was the best episode of the series so far. The penguin was both hilarious and upsetting, I think they handled it about as well as they could while staying serious.

I actually love the idea that
things that happen to him (like being drugged) in one world spill over into another

I kind of liked the swerve at the end, but also I kind of didn't? it was kind of clever but also kind of Sixth Sense.

The show really stumbles when it focuses too much on procedural mystery solving, cause then all the conflict is external to Britten. The last two weeks felt average and forgettable.

I agree. The case this week was so boring, and that's two weeks in a row without Rex.

Needs to focus more on his relationship with his family, partners, and therapists.

I almost prefer the green world because Rex and Tara are a lot more fun than Hannah, but I like Vega and BD Wong a lot. Actually, I think I like both shrinks about equally.

The green world is also just nicer to look at. The red seems harsh.

And why does every single case have to be a sob story

as much as the procedural stuff is grating and not special

I hope they stay away from the
    conspiracy

nonsense that has been hinted it, because that would just be worse

    Sigh.
Now we've got a soap opera on top of a sci fi conspiracy. What happened to the psychological drama?

yeah I think I am done with this show

    it's just

Huh. I really liked that ending.

At least the family stuff is way more interesting than the cases.

    Goodbye, Awake.

You started off strong, became kind of a normal boring cop show, got really, really good for a few episodes and then got confusing.

Interview that helps explain the last scene for those of you who need it, because I sure did.

    I think...
I think they left it vague, because you kind of have to, but it's kind of implied that the one where his wife is dead is the real one? or maybe it's not because I think at the end he's there with both his wife and his kid so maybe he dreamed up a new reality? I didn't watch it but I think that's what happened. also someone may have dressed up as a penguin
