She'd never actually felt fear before is, to me, incredible and goes a long way to show how flawed the White Lotus' methods of training the Avatar were. It's becoming more and more apparent that, right now, she may as well be an alien.
I thought that moment was both very profound and very revealing.
As you note,
she really is completely unprepared to deal with the scenario she's been plunged into. She's both been built up and built herself up as this unstoppable larger-than-life heroine for her entire life, and now that she's actually confronted with real, genuine fear for the first time, she doesn't know what to do with herself.
Contrast her current situation to Bolin's, who saw his own parents get murdered right in front of him, grew up on the streets working for a gang, and despite all that past experience dealing with fear still can't sleep because of Amon, and that paints a truly horrifying picture of just how messed up Korra is right now.
I give this show tremendous respect for building Korra up as such a strong character yet still having the guts to go so dark with her character arc. Really impressive stuff.
I liked the dialog between Bolin and Korra on the steps outside the temple. It was fun and animated and felt very genuine. A lot of shows handle those moments either melodramatically or very by-the-numbers. This felt organic.

Pretty much everything Bolin does is great. His VA has fantastic delivery.
That scene further cemented my desire for them to knock off the Korra/Bolin romance arc as soon as possible and just make the characters good friends instead. Korra needs somebody who's just a friend instead of a romantic interest/rival, and I think Bolin is by far the best and most entertaining choice for that position.
Well it doesn't appear that Korra has any interest in Bolin, but Bolin's crush isn't going to go away quickly, I think.
I was actually a little surprised that Korra completely didn't notice the rose he brought her. Is she really that sheltered, or was she just really preoccupied with thinking about Amon?

Yeah, I'd tend to agree. Her mind was very much so elsewhere at that moment.
Normally, she seems pretty good about picking up on this kind of stuff; note how quickly she calls out Bolin for his "we're together" bit in Episode 1.
Korra's easily my favorite. I like Bolin quite a lot as well as he's just so damn funny. Mako is getting better, but he needs to move further away from the aloof cool guy stereotype, or actually start being a badass, before I'll really like him.
Overall, I think Korra and Bolin are easily as good as any of the TLA characters, with Mako having a bit of ground to cover to get there. Asami's still too much of a non-factor to say.

I am prepared to just buy the season pass, but it's a bit overpriced. So it'd be nice if I could just watch on the Nick site each week.

Seems like it was up there earlier last week.
With DBZ Kai, each new episode was uploaded within a week of its airdate. 3 new episodes up at a time (and 3 legacy I think, but there were a fuckbillion episodes per saga even with Kai).
Last week it was up minutes after it aired. That's gonna be the exception, not the rule. Fuck, even Hulu which has the most lenient policies regarding uploading waits until ~6 AM EST the following day to upload videos, sometimes even later to update the site to list them.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
