Yeah. Seeing as how it started as a parody of a gaming system that is no longer published I feel like it's kinda impossible for OotS to gain all that many new readers.

I don't think a DC comparison really works, since DC uses static clipart, while OOTS is still using different frames every comic and drawing everything himself.
Unless I do not understand something about OOTS.
The comparison really only works in that the main focus in both is the text, but I think they're doing things so differently as to be pretty hard to compare.
Not to say that I like OOTS, cause I don't. I think a better comparison would be something like 8-bit Theatre. The low quality art is specifically to highlight the text/story, although the art does change from frame to frame, and follows typical story continuity (rather than DC, which repeats ad nauseum).
Now whether or not 8-bit is actually good, whereas OOTS is bad, is probably something lots of people would disagree with, but they're doing very similar things.

guys, the last time we did this RMED nearly had a breakdown, we need to find a way to gently break it to him that his opinions on something aren't the ultimate authority on the quality of said thing.

It's just really poorly built, for what it wants to do. The art is not something that I have a problem with. It is obviously meant to merely be a guide through the dialogue, and I'm not really an art guy when it comes to comics anyway, so I don't really care. What I do care about, though, is the physical construction of the frames. OOTS is horribly saturated in dialogue text, it has awful panel layout. I can not read the comic, my eyes just slide down the page whenever it is posted.
Since there's no art to catch your eye, the bloated text bubbles just kind of push me away. Even if the writing is good, and I haven't read enough to really have that much of an opinion on it, the structure is all wrong. He needs to slim down the text on the page, or find a different layout so that he can write as much without making his panels a mess.

Ah right, I was under the mistaken assumption that you didn't like the writing, which is personally what I really enjoy about it. That's a fair enough criticism, I think, the style isn't for everyone and I am not about to say that it is perfect by any means. I'd probably enjoy it more if the dialogue and so on were better laid out, though maybe you'd have to loose some for that to happen which would be a shame. To be honest, I'd rather keep it as it is if changing the layout for the better meant losing text, but that's my own preference.
