Seems weird that they managed to hunt down every single member of a nomadic culture but I imagine the tattoos were a bit of a giveaway.

you know for as much as they were called nomads

fully none of their culture seemed nomadic

they lived in permanent, well established settlements and had a regimented society

sorta the opposite of nomadic, really

i always had the impression that, even though they lived and trained primarily in the temples, the traveled around the world often

which is why Aang had a bunch of friends in every nation and also knew about all kinds of interesting places like Kyoshi Island and that place with the musical prairie dogs

I bet that when the genocide started, all the Air Nomads in the world made a beeline for the temples, thinking they would be the safest place to be.

maybe it's not as deep in earth kingdom territory as i'm imagining

Man the fire nation took over most of the earth kingdom

Like, Ba Sing Se was literally one of the last bastions of resistance in the entire world.

Maybe what we've seen of Avatar World is only one hemisphere of the planet. Maybe on the other side of the planet there are European and African analogues.

I was under the impression that only the western chunk of the earth kingdom had been taken, the area that republic city is in now

i thought the rest of it was still contested

maybe but i feel like the air nomads would know about it, since they could make a trip from pole to pole in like 5 weeks

Oh man, I only just noticed that the map looks like a dragon spitting fire and the fire is the fire nation.
    100% sure that's a serious slowpoke.

So that map explains how the fire nation got all the air temples

they are really close to the coasts

Everything is really close to water, which makes sense since in any pre-industrialized world.

I figured at least one of them would have been pretty inland, because I mean they can fly on giant bison things, but I guess not

Presumably, they have to make rest stops every so often.

Having flight doesn't really compensate for living far away from a large source of water. The land itself would have to be sustainable, which doesn't work without water nearby until the industrial age can come along and make long-distance irrigation possible.

Considering how protective the nations are of their borders, this likely isn't very possible.

    look at that map

there is no inland, except for the desert

also those are only places visited over the course of the show and are likely not completely indicative of settlement patterns

I think Asami and Sato are genuine and I doubt they have ulterior motives

    Okay here's a wild guess
What if the mystery man Yukone was Toph's husband

That would fill in a question mark and give Korra a reason to talk to Lin

Or does he? It would be fascinating to discover exactly who Toph had a child with. They could go anywhere with the possibilities.
